Seeing as he was just hanging out with Autechre, maybe they told him something.

Yes I’m aware similar threads have been started and exist. I felt like starting a new one since it’s been a while and times are tough lately so lay off! Jk What’s your current favorite all time BoC track? It’s allowed to change from time to time hence the new thread. In the past I’ve always had a hard time not saying 5-9-78. Honestly, and I know the album it’s on is divisive, I think Tears From The Compound Eye might be the most beautiful piece they've ever done and right now it’s the track I need. It’s psychedelic, comforting, serene, and nostalgic all at the same time. The times feel literally like Tomorrows Harvest but I could honestly use another TCH-es…

I found this interesting. If it's a hoax old BOC album kudos to whoever made it. There is a version of Boqurant at 14:20. It could easily be a cover or maybe even just pitched down but this is a fun listen regardless.

Well I think its a masterpiece and it's getting a lot of play as the Summer takes hold. So many lush magic moments... "Listen" (I do skip a few tracks tho :/......the 2 ending with y.. )

HHV mag just started their series on math & music. I contributed an article on numerology & math in Boards of Canada's music. It's just a short introduction and there's probably loads of stuff not mentioned, but I had to stick to the 4000 characters. Enjoy and grill me afterwards. https://www.hhv-mag.com/feature/on-numerology-in-boards-of-canadas-music/?lang=en Many thanks to @MIXL2 who provided some explanations and hints in another thread!

Would be a very interesting idea no? @mdg Maybe every music artist should provide this service. I'm sure Google would be interested. 🏳️🌈❤️🙏✊💫💥💨🥇= Every animal on earth is a: Every plant on Earth is a: This video is a microcosm of our brains. The bird is the semi-dormant right brain. And the Owl the awoken left brain. If we all collectively stop sleeping (only sleep when we need to sleep). The owl will fly to the bird and cut the rope loose. And we both can fly away together into infinity and beyond. obviously Jesus and Mohammad did this and…

According to the excellent BOCPages: According to Sean Booth, there exists a cover that Boards of Canada made of the Autechre track "Cichli", it still remains unreleased.

https://www.stereogum.com/2175272/boards-of-canada-geogaddi-turns-20/reviews/the-anniversary/ I love you Geogaddi, you beautiful sonofa.... Life changing album and that's not hyperbole. It literally changed me. Telephasic Workshop was the track that piqued my interest, but Geogaddi was the album that ultimately sucked me in. Hearing "You Could Feel The Sky" while driving through the Minnesota northwoods was a trancendant moment.

BOC repeatedly mentioned that sometimes they compose melodies or enture tracks using the Fibonacci sequence or fractals or other mathematical frameworks. I've been researching for some examples on this in their music but couldn't find anything yet. I know that some tracks / albums follow a very symmetric design, i.e. a palindrome. But in regards to Fibonacci and fractals I can't it in their music. Can you name a few examples?

https://lone.bandcamp.com/track/boards-of-canada-roygbiv-covered-by-lone A very lovely ROYGBIV cover done by none other than Lone, a great artist in his own right. He occasionally drops by WATMM 🙂 Anyways, it’s a pay what you want track with proceeds all going to Mind mental health charity. Playing Lone hype man today for sure but this is cool. He seems like a really cool dude. Happy Holidays, here’s looking forward to new BoC tunes in 2022! (????)

Thought I'd throw this out there: Coffee with Benson, 1996, Beaumont Hannant It does sound quite BOC-esque, don't you think? Eerie when you consider when it was made. Shame he disappeared from the scene not long after this. Unless he and BOC are one and the same. 🤪

Probably one of my favorite if not my my favorite album of all time. Arguably Zoviet's best full length. When I first heard Boards, one of the first things it reminded me of was this album. I'm not sure how many people in here are familiar with it or Zoviet France in general, but if you are a BOC fan I'm sure that you will find something to appreciate here. Zoviet France captured sort of a lofi broken AM radio aesthetic that didn't really come into fashion until fairly recently. BOC was one of the only bands I felt that followed down the same path back when they started putting out music. Anyways, I'm sure there are many other musical linkages you could make to what pos…

Someone made a really quite great 80 min video about BOC's work that's not nearly as lame as it sounds. Made me emotional tbh. Might be rather "tell me something i dont know" for a few of you but it's still very well put together
