I have quite a few tracks that I have started throughout the years, that I am quite proud of. The only problem is, I haven't been able to finish them. There are a number of reasons for this, but it's usually not knowing where to take the track, not to mention being a perfectionist at times. So I end up saving the track in a folder with loads of other unfinished tracks and in the back of my mind I tell myself one day that I will finish it.

This rarely happens, but I did finish one or two tracks before, which were unfinished for months, if not years. But when I try to replicate that act, I end up getting frustrated and closing down my DAW in a matter of minutes. Either I can't find the right sound I'm looking for, be it a synth sound or a drum sound, or I can't seem to find a bassline that works with the track, or I add stuff and it ends up sounding too muddy and all of the sounds end up competing for the spotlight. This all leads to me giving up and deciding to watch The Thing for the 11th time or browsing WATMM in hopes of finding more batcock.

I am optimistic that one day I will finish these tracks, I want to be able to share them in their completed forms. But until then, here are some unfinished tracks which I think are pretty awesome, despite ending abruptly or not having as much variation as I'd like.

These were all made sometime in the past 8 years. I will make another post with some more Skeleton Tracks for your listening pleasure as I have so many that it's a bit of an overload.

Be more positive, don't give up so easily. I find if you just take a break for a while to re-access what you want to do, and look for inspiration in life and other forms of media it can be beneficial. I have streaks where I make and finish tracks, and others where I make skeleton songs.

My creativity comes in waves, there is nothing like the feeling of listening to a track you just finished that is a banger over and over again. Or listening to it months later and having the thought "How the fuck did I make that".

I haven't heard your music before, but keep at it. :braindance:

DUDE! You might as well have gone in to my mind and posted exactly the thing thats going on with me and music, im in the SAME boat as you... Well i dont know about that because after hearing your piece called on here 'waste' i think you have amazing tallent! That track is sick and has alot of potential. All you need to do is listen to it a few times after smoking a joint or somthin and really listen to it and see where it takes you, and what sort of sounds you imagine should go there. I know its hard when you know what sound you want but you just cant seem to know how to make it of find it at the time... Thats where people like Aphex Twin really shine - in their ability to replicate what they hear in their mind.

But yeah, ill keep this post short... Keep it up, id LOVE to hear the finished version of the top and bottom track "waste" and "lolicon"... both sound wicked!

This is a really good idea for a post... having clips of differnt unfished tracks to show off so other people could give you inspiration or ideas where to go with it... I may do the same thing.

Don't stop the vibes!

PEACE!!!
