THE REFERENDUM ON THE UK'S MEMBERSHIP OF THE EU HAS HAD APPALLING CONSEQUENCES. IT HAS AMPLIFIED MANY DIVISIONS IN SOCIETY AND IN PARTICULAR HAS HELPED TO RE-ESTABLISH XENOPHOBIA AS LEGITIMATE AND ACCEPTABLE. WITNESSING THIS AGAINST THE GLOBAL BACKDROP OF A RESURGENCE OF THE FAR-RIGHT, IT'S ESSENTIAL THAT THOSE WHO FIND THESE DEVELOPMENTS UNACCEPTABLE MAKE THEIR THOUGHTS KNOWN AND TAKE ACTION. THIS PIECE OF MUSIC WAS WRITTEN IN THE AFTERMATH OF THE REFERENDUM AND I PRESENT IT AS THE BASIS OF AN INTERNATIONALIST COLLABORATION WITH SOUND MAKERS IRRESPECTIVE OF WHAT KIND OF MUSIC THEY MAKE, WHERE THEY LIVE, THEIR BACKGROUND, THEIR AGE - ALL ARE INVITED TO PARTICIPATE. IT I…

D'demonstrator was released 13 years ago. Elektrac was only six years ago but consisted of pre-Shobaleader material. As much as I enjoyed Be Up a Hello and its accompanying EP, Lamental, it certainly wasn't much new terrain. But even as far as retreading older sounds, it wasn't exactly terribly exciting, either. What I could really go for is more in the sound world of say, Budakhan Mindphone or something. Heck even as far as recent new sounds of Tom's, I liked Damogen Furies more than most people I can think of... Something altogether new couldn't hurt

full disclosure- i've only 'recently' got into squarepusher much, or really any of this type of electronic music for that matter. i bought go plastic maybe 4-5yrs ago, it grew on me quickly and eventually i loved it. didn't get another of his for maybe a year or two. got hard normal and feed me, loved those. since then i've been grabbing the major releases and have most of them by now. anyway, one of my recent acquisitions is Hello Everything. I also just got Ultravistor. Ultravisitor is pretty weird, and maybe a bit too wandering and loose for what i want. it seems like the random noisey parts of go plastic but as a full album, then with bass noodling every once in a whi…

That was a bonkers gig, loads of new fresh material interweaved expertly with some oldies. No live bass guitar, but it was absolutely slammin'. Not sure how 'live' the actual gig was as I never got close enough to the front to see musical gear, but it was one of the best Squarepusher gigs I've been to. Kinda soulless venue, but the sound was really good for Tom & it was decent enough, all pretty chill. Visuals were awesome too! Hoping someone recorded the whole thing (& shares it), but I've got a few fun short excepts on my phone as token snapshots. I wonder if some of the fresh material will see a release soon... Amusing side note: Francis Bor…

CBeebies has launched an online video to help kids wind down, which shows children walking through a forest, playing with bubbles and splashing in puddles. However there is some debate over whether screen time is the best way of getting kids to relax. The ‘slow TV’ show is called ‘Daydreams’ and encourages kids to “take the time to notice the beauty in the world” by watching the earth’s elements: water, wind and light. It combines long, slow montages of calming images, with a narration by Olivia Colman and music by dance artist Tom Jenkinson.

So recently I got a request from a user if there is a possibility to do a Kickstarter similar to the Caustic Window LP we did back in 2014 for Tom's "Methyl Orange" LP, a 2x12" whitelabel apparently only given to Richard, Chris Jeffs, GWC, and potentially a few other mates. Was destined for MEN Records (a Rephlex sublabel) back in 2003 but never saw the light of day. Wait - what? "Methyl Orange LP"? I'd never heard of it until now... So, a bit of Googling (you get a lot of science-y stuff if you just Google "Methyl Orange"), and I did find where I am assuming Tom played these tracks live for WARP20 and keyfumbler posted it to Mixcloud: A comment on the…

This came to me in a dream last night - I was listening to a mystery album and thought "This sounds just like Music Is Rotted..." But I woke up and thought about it, and not much music comes to mind for me. Definitely some Miles Davis is close, but that tends to be a lot busier and more chaotic. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions (jazz or otherwise) that capture the sort of murky, smoky, basement jam feel of this album.

Around the time Ultravisitor came out, an essay by Tom was posted on his warp page, some really pretentious philosophical banter about the role of machines in the creative process. I tried looking for this recently but it doesn't seem to be up on the warp site any more and I forget the title. Anyone remember what this was called, or have a copy or link?

I read on the wiki that the album was done without a computer. in my opinion, that seems so unrealistic that i've been listening to it all morning trying to figure out what the hell is going on. certain sections are obviously performed and recorded, but other sections are so meticulous and drawn out/lacking repetitiveness, that it doesn't really seem to be plausible. I'm not sure of what technology was available back in 2001, but i can't imagine that album being arranged, sliced and chopped with no computer interference. Any of you guys/girls have any mind-blowing info on the subject? Is it actually not that big of a deal?
