I get what you mean about the bass, I put it a bit further back because it was a bit crowded with the busy drums. I might try another mixdown with it more prominent. Guest hahathhat Posted May 12, 2011 Share Posted May 12, 2011 when i saw the squarepusher's song titled "hanningfield window" my brain immediately changed it to HAMMINGFIELD WINDOW. as in, the hamming distance of a code. perhaps your name came from this train of thought as well ??? as for the song: do not really like the percussion. percussion is too spazzy. lots of little edits, but no larger structures to tie it together into a unified fing. just not coherent enough for the speed it's running at..... but the song is quite nice when it doesn't sound like a drum kit falling down a long stairwell. Perhaps you'd prefer this sort of track, it's a lot slower and more melodic focused rather then falling drum kits The name, Hamming windoW comes from signal processing actually, it's one of a number of window functions that are used in spectral analysis and filter design. Curiously enough there is a Hann, or Hanning, Window too, that is quite similar to the Hamming Window in design. Perhaps pusher was making a reference to that?
