  1. Guys, I really hate to tell you this but I think this leak is either fake or incomplete. My guess is incomplete, though if this is real this album is such a change in direction for Ae.

From my calculations which were posted in the orginal Oversteps thread, the album Bleep are putting out digitally is going to be anywhere between 66:45 to 68 minutes in length. This leak comes to 63:38 with Ilanders repeated, so the leak's version of the album should be under 60 minutes in length. In that case, either something's missing or it's a fake

I want to believe. This is awesome so far. Perhaps Ae have put their own faek out?

I chopped it all up on ableton earlier.

    ress 4:42

    ilanders 5:25

    known(1) 4:38

    pt2ph8 4:05

    qplay 4:34

    see on see 4:33

    Treale 5:59

    os veix3 4:36

    0=o 4:46

    d-sho qub 6:23

    st epero 4:02

    redfall 3:18

    krylon 6:32

    yuop 5:51

I removed the extra ilanders in there as well. may not be exact cuts. total length 69min 24sec.

    It is real.

I wrote a review track by track there.

They way you chopped it up is not consistent with what the big shot mag reviewer provided on his last.fm:

    r ess (5:12)

    ilanders (5:32)

    known(1) ??

    pt2ph8 (4:09)

    qplay (4:38)

    see on see (4:37)

    Treale (6:05)

    os veix3 (4:37)

    O=0 (4:52)

    d-sho qub (6:26)

    st epreo (1:43)

    redfall (3:48)

    krYlon (6:08)

He scrobbled it like ths. So his version is just the actual promo cd with seperate tracks ripped to mp3 and tagged.

Your st epreo is more than double in length... it does not add up.

There is something fishy going on here...

  2. when you seperate the tracks the lengths are NEARLY identical to the last.fm times -some seconds (the transitions?), with the exception of os veix and O=0 which seem to fit perfectly.

    also ilanders is played twice.

The big shot magazine reviewer got this listed on his last.fm :

    r ess (5:12)

    ilanders (5:32)

    known(1) ??

    pt2ph8 (4:09)

    qplay (4:38)

    see on see (4:37)

    Treale (6:05)

    os veix3 (4:37)

    O=0 (4:52)

    d-sho qub (6:26)

    st epreo (1:43)

    redfall (3:48)

    krYlon (6:08)

    ---

ilanders on this leak lasts for almost 7 minutes. that's really odd.

This makes me think this m4a file is a recorded one on one stream copy. Someone played the album from start to finish, played ilanders twice and then it got recorded just like that. A true one on one copy from a live stream.

So I don't think this is a CD rip at all.

  3. Brendan - thanks for reading the blog, though admittedly I'm a bit hesitant to post more of my reactions, since I'm wrestling with exactly how to put it myself. It's not that beats aren't there, more than they're a lot less up-front, and melody takes greater precedence than I personally might have expected for an Ae album. Perhaps one of the best ways of explaining some of the sounds is to say that Sean did talk about some of his favorite synths of the moment being intricate FM monsters - FS1R, FM8. I think that's where I was hearing the Plaid comparison.

As for the next issue of Big Shot, it should be out some time in March, probably a couple weeks before the album drops.

Also if this latest leak is real then I reckon bleep will put up the legit downloads asap to counter.

  4. In the preview/review by the big shot magazine reviewer there is some talk about four leaks that surfaced... I thought the general consensus is there has only been found two leaks as of now? Being the Altered:Carbon leak and the one right after that. Nothing else leaked, imho. So where did they find four leaks?

Could it be that AE has leaked this supposedly real album but instead provided only two real tracks (ilanders and see on see) and filled the rest with leftofters fron their very own productions?

    It's not impossible I'd say.

Whenever bleep puts out samples I'll be convinced of the whole and till then I'll enjoy this new out-of-the-blue leak. Which is another thing that puzzles me.. how come it all of a sudden leaked?! It seems too much of a coincedence...

PS: Altered:Carbon's self titled album is properly released now: http://section27netlabel.blogspot.com/2010/02/s27-035-alteredcarbon-alteredcarbon.html

  5. so awepittance and glotch waited for the two real tracks to be posted, quickly added them to their new fake and then uploaded it?

it would certainly make a lot of sense... but kind of getting a bit old at this point.

That would be a win win situation imho. Fake AE tracks which are really great AND a yet unheard new AE album inbound.

I'd sign for that + love to get proper titles for the might-be-fakes.

  6. Is it just me or is ilanders played twice in row in this m4a? explains the total length of this file too..

also dug these up from big shot magazine reviewer's last.fm profile:

    r ess (5:12)

    ilanders (5:32)

    known(1) ??

    pt2ph8 (4:09)

    qplay (4:38)

    see on see (4:37)

    Treale (6:05)

    os veix3 (4:37)

    O=0 (4:52)

    d-sho qub (6:26)

    st epreo (1:43)

    redfall (3:48)

    krYlon (6:08)

  7. An album of Drane2 = Epic win.

drane2, garbagemx36, and the likes are not what I'd call ambient.. but if it's like this then I'm totally cool with it because these tracks are insanely good; there's lots going on in these songs.. lots of percussion and layers..

I just hope they won't release anything very minimalistic drone/soundcape shizzle; that's what I'd call boring. There should be life in the tracks. It should sound rich.

  8. "Extrem ruhig" - I'm not excited! OK, I'd accept an AE SAW I, but not SAW II please; it bored me.

Hopefully "extreme calm" is just relatively speaking when compared to Quaristice.

I won't feel much for a beatless ambient album I'm afraid. That music just doesn't really do it for me. I need at the very least some gentle percussion/beats.

If not, could you pm a link to rar file you listed which supposedly is real and the os veix3 being an extended track... thanks

Well, if it's this rar file: http://fatroland.blogspot.com/2010/01/autechres-oversteps-fake-leak-scandal.html?showComment=1264804091751#c6688617936282410919

Then I think it's fake too. The track see on see is chopped off all of a sudden. Does not feel right. Or that might be on purpose....

  10. Hey, chums, I just got this in my Myspace inbox. Any thoughts?

i think the RAR file you listed [i.e. the new leak] is real because....

    1. it is pretty much beatless

    2. and it is good

    3. but mostly because...

os veix3, is an extended version from a fake track for Quaristice if you recall...

what are the odds of that???? faked by Autechre that is...remeber how they released a couple of Autechre tracks not on Quaristice...well this is one of them.. but extended

I lost count now. Which leak is this refering to? The Altered:Carbon one with the track known(1) with the chopped vocals which is actually called tinted corvettes on Altered Carbon's myspace site?

If not, could you pm a link to rar file you listed which supposedly is real and the os veix3 being an extended track... thanks
