  1. no, but really. i have some plants lying around and i found a chrysalis under a leaf. i was chuffed!

i could see the caterpillar through the cocoon, it was green, and eventually it started to turn brown and to shrink. yesterday i found the cocoon had a hole, so i missed the moment the moth hatches. but wait, this morning i'm looking at the empty cocoon, moving it with my finger, and suddenly a moth flies! it hadn't actually hatched and the transformation is only half complete. i'm really sorry, i really hope the moth doesn't die! it's now standing upside-down on (under?) a door lintel.

also logakght, i think it's easier to fall in love if you actually flirt with girls you just sorta like. ymmv i guess

  2. Yeh it'll be fine, don't go synth shopping, I bought so much stuff I didn't expect home with me, the shops are totally off the hook.

did you have to pay import duty for the synths? (not that i'm going anywhere, but i'm curious)

  3. Antonioni's L'Eclisse. It's really made a strong impression on me, I have to watch it again! I really liked how its realism makes the film more radical and strange rather than dull and conservative. I also liked how sometimes, despite the existential subject matter, there are very beautiful non-subjective scenes. Also it uses sound in a really striking way. I don't know what to make of the ending though, but not in a negative way, I just want to watch it again!

    I recommend this one!

  4. I took an Eurolines bus from Kaunas, Lithuania to Berlin over Poland just last July and it was something like 40 euros.

bloody hell i swear we southerners get fucking swindled on everything. sevilla-barcelona is like 80-100 euros.

  5. I went from London to Cologne recently for 20 Euros or something ridiculously cheap seeing as it was a 17 hour journey including the ferry from Dover - Calais.

Good to know. I didn't know the right channels it seems! But I must still say that's definitely not the usual price at all, it's usually many times that, even if you're not leaving the country (actually taking a bus to a town just 100 km from where I am is 30 euros I believe and there's no way to make it cheaper)

  6.

bus travel in europe is extremely expensive...

You've obviously never cought a bus in Australia

    True! :P

I mean Rome-Paris by bus might be probably like 130€ or something like that. Flights are usually cheaper, or the same price but more convenient...

  7. oh, right. 35 pounds, cheaper.

it'd probably be cheaper to fly to Rome, rent a bike there, do everything I wanna do there, then return it, take a cheap bus or something through to France, take the train through to London, and then rent another bike there. and then fly home from London instead of Rome.

it'd save all the per km costs. but then I wouldn't have the fun of riding through a bit of Europe. bah.

bus travel in europe is extremely expensive. taking a flight is usually the cheapest way to travel, because usually airports are like not even near the city you're flying to. like london luton or frankfurt hahn, what a joke, i mean the name itself is a joke. "london luton", why not "london milton keynes" or "london manchester"?

oh yeah, and lots of toll roads, yeah.

  8. i mean iggy azalea is so fucking sad, that last video is so embarrassing and sad, it's like awkward teenagers who don't know what to do with their body and want to hide it, it produces exactly the same kind of cringey feeling and makes me want to cry and puke at the same time and generally commit suicide man everything is so depressing

like people are actually willing to embrace apocalypse, fuck that shit and fuck all moderate "critical" smartasses

  9. suggestion everywhere

when i watch modernist films i'm always amazed at how matter-of-factly they present attractive bodies without this sort of perverted gaze

like dziga vertov, there's this scene on man with a camera where a woman is waking up, or when lots of women are bathing or doing calisthenics

    I loved that one!

I'm reading "Raisons pratiques" by Pierre Bourdieu and am looking forward to a bunch of Henri Lefebvre stuff I'm going to borrow from my girlfriend.

i can't simply hate them cause their dicks... it's not enough these days... what would be left?

Man, FS were pants. They couldn't program a drum machine worth beans, and all they did is discard the futuristic side of Human League or Kraftwerk and play up the fashion aspect which incidentally was what originally destroyed synthpop. That said, there was a more positive side to them than the usual indie fare: for example covering Wire's The 15th was a good move, so maybe it's OK that FS existed. I definitely listened to them a lot when they were new.

God, the drums on Emerge are completely whack.

I don't know, when I think of that particular time in music I can only think of the opposition between Dopplereffekt and Miss Kittin. Dopplereffekt is no-nonsense and has a lot of conceptual integrity, while Miss Kittin is all about style and virtually all formal aspects of her tracks are arbitrary (you could change the instruments, the arrangements, everything, because the point is just to have something that's provocative, danceable and sexy, which is fun but I don't need music for that.)
