Can't blame everyone for wanting more. 400 tracks would have gone on for 8+ days and surely would've covered everyone's favorite period. I'm really enjoying the old sounds. I wanted more but like everyone else here i sort of knew it had ended when it did. What an incredible gift for everyone. What a beautiful and twisted mind. It'll take the next couple of years to digest this. Richard. Thank you for this! We'll still be here when you drop more sounds from the cloud and i hope the wait won't be too long. ...just amazing...

yep this will take years to fully absorb. cant deny that i'd cry tears of joy if there had been vordhosbn style drukqs outtakes though

He did say he had some tracks from around druqs era that he wanted to release... some dancey stuff. perhaps he feels that those tracks deserve a physical/high quality release!? i'm sure it wont be long if he is, cos he wants to get on with his new projects!! However, there is enough recent music from him to keep me amused for years to come! Thanks richard. :)

  2. Richard, wake up and upload more music!! :cat:

kidding, thanks so much! What an amazing gift!

did anyone get that caustic window track before it disappeared?

I think this may be it:

    That is Wisp's 'Teddy Oggie'.

The caustic window soundcloud track was a minute or two, with fade in/fade out, not even full track. And sounded weak as fuck and very aphex clone-y. So it was like a "teaser" sample track. Meanwhile actual aphex getting uploaded on other soundcloud account. The caustic window one updated hadhtags to "like early aphex" to jump in on the hype. Its legit not worry stressing over if noone manages to up it..,

Ah, ok i didn't hear it! cheers!

Ok all you fuckers need to stop your boring talk, cause I hear something silly in that syro track ole afexcks put up. Listen carefully to the intro in your right ear. Hear that high pitch almost tinnitusesque pitch? I have one question and one question only: why?

Woah yeah wtf. It's in the right ear, but throughout the song totally pans to the middle a few times. It also sounds like it's ducking sometimes before the beat hits. Hmmmmm.

Listen to it at 0:29, it pans to the middle. :cerious:

Okay after doing some advanced mathematics I have the answer. He added it in to phase out his own tinnitus because he originally didn't intend to release the song. But only for this song. Because.

i don't hear it. is it in the background somewhat?

  4. Analord is amazing. i have listened to the whole lot back to back loads of times at work (gardener. sitting in rain, no talking, rocking slightly..) whenever i think i am bored of it i give it a rest for a couple of months and when i go back there is always a new perspective. so much going on in every track yet perfectly balanced. i can't fault it really. same goes for tuss/drukqs. i think it also depends what mood you are in.... sometimes everything sounds meh....

Can't wait for syro. does anyone recon it will be quite good?

Completely. Compositionally, the Analord stuff is wonderful, but it sounds so clean and polished... a lot of what I love about earlier Aphex is the sound of it, the curiously lo-fi feel to even the better produced tracks, and the scrapbook feel to the range of different sounds and approaches he had back then.

(Also probably why I'm less excited about MFM and AB5... for me, ICBYD was a transitional album from 'artist I love' to 'artist I quite like').

Anyway, yeah, this is fucking excellent.

mmmm. i think the trouble, is that you cannot just stagnate and keep churning out the same old sound. i'm sure he could do millions of permutations of his older sound but it wouldn't be a challenge. All his work is amazing. i think his recent stuff retains his style, and pushes the boundaries in different ways. (how the melodies present themselves and morph into other melodies etc)

Love the new caustic window, can't stop listening!

Oh, I agree - I'm certainly not criticising him for making changes (and I still rate Analord / The Tuss as some of the best electronic music of the last ten years). It's just especially exciting to get 'new' music from his earlier era, as it's great to hear my favourite side of him again...

yeah. quite trippy to get new old music! bet his archives are riddled with similar treats! :)
