  1. I wish I'd grabbed one during that window of time when you could get them really cheap.  Picked up a nice Otari stereo machine for $20 during that time but I had a Tascam 388 back then so I was never really looking for an 8 track.  Sold that because it was huge and the master fader went, but now even a small 8 track like you've got/I want is out of my budget.

BUT I was paying so much attention to it that I missed the Copicat under your cassette deck, which is even cooler!  You might actually want to send in a photo to this site, since they don't seem to have any record of any models with the controls on the front like that.

Its super rare but needs service, it's got a lovely sound ive tweaked it a few times and it does something magic to signals

love the volca keys! great for arps, pads, squiggles, bloops blops, leads with the right fx chain.

ms20mini is lovely too but behaves weird sometimes the envelopes a weird

Nice, that is good to hear because that is the kind of stuff I want to do with it.

    What's weird about the envelopes?

    dunno just weird

  3. Maybe they are old tunes, perhaps hes recreated the original setups and sounds and just recorded the songs again with lush preamps and mixed them on baddass gear.

  4. I do wish artists/labels would include a scan of the artwork/liner notes with downloads. It's not worth buying CDs again, but how much effort does it take to drag one more file into a folder?

this is the thing you don't get linear notes or additional artwork with digital unless they produce a digital booklet..

In theory most of this information should be within the meta data..but no one does that properly

So why would Autechre the purveyors of the finest electronic music this century would release it then?

Probably because they record in 24bit and don't want to dither? Or because a good DAC and a massive system can probably work better with a audio format that has a better dynamic range?

dithering doesn't decrease the quality, it increases it. 24 bit only has a better dynamic range in terms of numbers, 16 bit is already more than enough dynamic range for actual human beings. we covered all this back around page 25 or something, it was a thrilling discussion.

    Lol

  6. the idiotic assumption behind this argument is that 24bit wavs contain anything more than 16bit do, and if they do that you can physically perceive that.

if i want to listen to the highest quality i need some ridiculous DAC attached to my stereo

uh, do you know how a CD player works?

    Yea it's limited to 16bit 44.1khz

you can't just be stupid with one topic, huh? you have to be stupid in every way it seems, like it's a whole package.

did you by any chance ask yourself why this particular bit depth and sampling rate was chosen as a standard?

highest quality of this release is 24bit

so if you want to listen at the highest quality you have to use soem thing that p-lays 24bit files IE not a fucking CD you bellend

  9. maybe they didn't release it on vinyl cause they didn't thnk it was good enough?

    just needed the cash?

I take it all back, just got to the end of 13x0 step and it's making sense now lush vibez
