  1. this is clearly split in to small chucks like long ep's there no way you would listen to the whole thing in one sitting

it's probably the most gescom release theyve done, hearing it now

  2. Ae fan boys ahoy!

cleary i'm just not into this album and i think it's a bit overkill.

if they released this one part at a time everyone would have a different opinion..

Doawnloading wavs to burn to CD for the car, it best be a moment of holy glory when i drive home.

  3. I think theyve already done all this stuff before with Quadrange.ep.ae nothing new, some beautiful moments by the sounds of it but its just a bit meh.. could have probably reduced all these ideas into a mind blowing double album

  4. I love defensive Ae fans get when someone turns round and says actually some of these tracks are a bit wank...

example: TBM2 6 mins beat not going anywhere?

    you sure theyre not trolling?

  5. I'm just browned off I guess with people who need to show off about taking drugs to enhance their experience. It's so passe. Also it sort of belittles what Ae have achieved - I think you can better appreciate the sonic experience without synthetics which only lead to delusion and psychosis.

Would it made a difference if i said a beer?

  6. what people are missing here is how other people listen to music...

when i listen to music i listen on a nice stereo on my sofa with a coffee and a spliff letting the music take over my body and mind..

I look at the artwork (which i think is just as important as the music) and let it tell a story...

If i buy digital i have no artwork unless i stare at a screen, if i want to listen to the highest quality i need some ridiculous DAC attached to my stereo unless i listen on my computer...then i'm not im my fav position.

I totally get that everything is going digital and i need to change my listening habits but when i can buy Kamasi Washington - The Epic on vinyl which is nearly 3 hours long for £25 which has 15 minute tracks etc....I'm like ....i don't get it..

  7. who gives a shit how long it took? do you honestly think the more time you spend on art the better it is? you can't be that silly

Are you saying that % wise that this has better material than their last 3 albums? theyre about the same length

  8. some people just don't buy digital

same with aleksi perala ......too much stuff...

4 and half hours of autechre jams is great but i bet they didn't spend half as long making this as oversteps

  9. yeah, embrace it! I LOVE the fact that there's no physical release to obsess over...

i don't know if you remember the first warp site.....everything i bought digital dissapeered...

HD failure no cloud backup....paid for all this...

unless my house burns down my records will be fine and even if i do i can claim on insurance,....

I don't obsess over a physical i just like to own something

    I'll probably just pirate it

  10. Exai - £9.99 2 x CD - 120:32mins

    Oversteps - £8.99 CD - 71:16mins

    Quaristice - £6.99 CD - 73:15mins

    last 3 albums £25.97 - 264.63mins

    All come with digital downloads

    Elseq 1-5 - £35 - 247:38mins

I usually buy everything they do on vinyl i got the special Quaristice on CD all the ep's etc....

I bought the Ae_Live batch and it was basically versions of the same think......

  11. heres my temp setup...mainly for weed smoking and making beats

I used to have loads more gear but i sold it as i wasn't using it and can make as much sounds with sampling guitars and bass and records etc...

  12. Don't forget the gorgeous looking Madrona Labs Soundplane:

    k1_table_m.jpg

Jev: it does. But it does it continuously, and in an extremely reactive and accurate way, hence the insane expressiveness you can get with such controllers.

I get the same feeling I get when playing an acoustic or electric instrument. Depending on how you patch your synth, you can make it sound insanely organic. And damn that's quite fantastic to play vibratos, filter sweeps, pitchbends, legatos... in a very natural way, without turning an encoder.

For example it's damn easy to mimic a theremin, or a violin, or an electric guitar with the Rise. As I type, I'm getting some Blade Runneresque pads out of the simplest patches... So for any synthesis geek, it opens so many possibilities. It's hella inspiring, I have millions of ideas, for all kind of sounds.

And I love the fact that it's something I can play. It's a real eye-opener how any digital synth can sound warm and vibey if you can make it react to the smallest variation of the pressure, and micro-movements of your fingers. No need to have drifting oscillators when you can simply modulate the pitch of each note that easily.

miim: it depends. I had to move a few times this year, so I'm taking the minimalistic path. Ideally, I'd love it to be as compact as possible... and I think I'm almost set. A year ago I dreamt of pilling synths, and now it's the opposite (same goes in my plugin folder). I'm almost set, building a simple yet inspiring computer-centered set-up. I'm just drooling over Push 2 and Zebra 3.

Now it's more about making the room cozy, and making music (finally).

Yea ive just got too much shit and a big mixer, not as big as as i used to have but i can't get my feng shui

  13. with online media you now have to give away 50% of your best material to get back a substantial amount of cash unless you are supported by marketing team to promote your shit.

Most people will just torrent it if they want it so it's better to give some away for free and hopefully make some cash off the rest.

aphex has always talked about music should be free and i think it will be difficult for anyone to make money from music unless they are playing shows.

music companies are trying to make a standard model now for HQ streaming service before the whole thing falls over and i think Richard is doing the polar opposite with this? whether it's just for personal reasons, artistic reasons or just for the hell of it, he's going against the grain.

I don't think warp would be that bothered cause their aphex sales have probably shot up since he started uploading

  14. me and my mate bought a rehearsal/ recording studio last year, we've done up all the rehearsal bits and now we are working on the recording studio.

we got the desk on bbc auctions and decided we would strip it all down and rebuilt it ourselves. It's a Calrec S Series which was originally configured for broadcast but we have reconfigured it for recording/ mixing. we didn't quite realise how many connections we would have to do, it's all Edac connections. We stripped it and put it back together quite easily with nearly all functions working with a few bits we didn't need left for a later date.

We've now got all the line inputs working through patchbay from a Antelope Orion 32 but weve still got all the direct outs, inserts, groups inserts, aux sends, compressors etc.. left to do.

Best sounding desk ive ever heard! The EQ's alone are worth the effort!
