  1. Pitchfork: You use a lot of music to score the tone of a scene—Aphex Twin's "Come to Daddy" is used for that nightmarish fantasy where you're imagining yourself as the parent of these bratty kids.

Aziz Ansari: That was Zach's idea.

ZC: It made us both laugh. We're both very big Aphex Twin fans. And he shows up a couple times in the series. Growing up as a kid watching "120 Minutes", that video will always be the total personification of an absolute nightmare to me. It just popped into my head.

Seems like SoundCloud blocked the Chrome browser SoundCloud downloader extension recently. Anybody know anything more?

    if you use chrome -

go to a page with the track you want, but don't play it yet

right click - inspect element (anywhere)

    go to network

in the "filter", put in mp3

    hit play on the track

the track will appear in the list, usually named with random letters and numbers

    double click on it

it'll open in a new window

right click on the player > save as

Cool thanks. But I think just using one of the auto-convert websites is easier.

Going to put this out there again

Just put in the link to the artist/playlist and hit Sync

This: https://mega.nz/#F!HMcAgABI!TXaiAlHSGTno2ki_TuoJPQ needs updating stat, cause I prefer the formatting of the mega rather than the random rich files :p

    It'll get updated soon :)

Took me a while to get to it but, Mega repo has been updated! A few of the tracks Richard has uploaded are monophonic, so I made copies that are converted to stereo because some players don't play mono files. All downloads that are native WAV or AIFF also have FLAC, MP3 and WavPack versions available.

The latest (fourth) batch of downloads: http://we.tl/YJgMK1HifS

I've included all 55 tracks (Triple D - Nightmail), two of which weren't downloadable but I added the stream rip (128 kbps) of those in the batch.

    Thanks!

    Now, here's everything!

    https://mega.nz/#F!HMcAgABI!TXaiAlHSGTno2ki_TuoJPQ

"Cheetah7" in WAV, FLAC and 320CBR

"Throatie" in both mono and stereo MP3 (some devices can't play mono-channel MP3)

Includes the two tracks (#001 and #071) that MikeP massaged (EQ/limit)

Includes the no-fadeout version of "35 SAW II un road shimmer"

    Includes all JPGs

Includes all track descriptions in TXT

The four tracks only available in 128 streaming quality (#069, 099, 204, 222) are suffixed "_128.mp3"

    ID3 tag info:

ID3 tags were left alone as much as possible.

The "TITLE" tag contains the ORIGINAL title, not the modified titles on SoundCloud

The filename contains the modified SoundCloud titles

All tracks have their respective images embedded in ID3 tags.

For tracks that didn't have images, the ID3 tag image is the dark plum color @ 500x500 pixel

Five ID3 fields were copied to custom fields to preserve the original data Richard put in them.

Thanks for keeping up to date on these - my preferred resource for the dump - well organised.

nah just make sure u have some things stocked up just in case everything goes to shit. good idea to stock up as soon as possible. something could happen tomorrow...

"something" could happen any day, I won't take pseudoscience for facts just to prepare myself for food rationing.

I don't think we're talking about green veg here.

  5. 'In fact, he allegedly told xf that he will use the final results as "a strong start" to compiling a new vinyl compilation from the material.

That feels a little suspicious at this point'

It's irritating that they won't commit to just saying it's definitely RDJ. Too afraid to be wrong... So ironically they are just wrong.

Just hit 1001 votes on the "top 30", and 1668 total accounts on the system.

(There has been a ton more votes if I count vote changes... the 1001 refers to total people who have voted).

A little disappointed this isn't higher - there are 70K followers on soundcloud and there has to be a gob of aphex fans who want to get involved.

Is it that people don't know about this thing?

Except for a tiny link without explanation in the profile description of his account there isn't any publicity (save for watmm). Not my favourite thing to say, but it could be a good idea to notify RA, Fact Mag, etc. Aphex himself could post it on his facebook or twitter but hasn't so far, maybe he just want the """diehard""" fans to vote?

Maybe somebody on this forum could write a good article regarding the dump and submit it to one of these guys. So far what has been written regarding the soundcloud release has been misleading and messy at best. If you don't follow this forum or the reddit thread, you really are getting mixed messages about whether it has been taken down, the legitimacy etc etc.

With some good journalism and pointing the right direction, maybe the voting would explode.

Just did. Trying to think of other relevant online magazines now.

I did a quick google to see who has reported it at all

    https://www.google.ie/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=soundcloud+aphex+twin&tbm=nws

CoS, The Guardian, The Verge - anyone who has reported on it incorrectly so far!

Is it that people don't know about this thing?

I've been following the soundcloud releases, almost from day 1 but I haven't voted yet. My reason is that I am rubbish at associating track titles to tunes I like. Even though I am familar with the tracks as I hear them, I don't have the mental retention for track names I think. So recently I've been 'staring' tracks on my commute that stand out to me and once I have a solid 30 I'll put my vote in.

I feel that without doing that, I'd have to sit down for a good few hours on the voting site listening to snippets, reminding and familiarizing myself with tracks and I just don't have the time (let alone patience) for that.

All of this is not to say that you haven't done a stand out job on the site though - it's really excellent and I will honor your work with my votes once I am happy with my selection.

Having said that, I wonder do the colors on the site put people off psychologically. It's a site that you're going to spend time on so following color theory might entice users to hang around. Some help with this can be found on Kuler . Honestly though, I'm just trying to help - not criticize.

I've seen so much praise for Pretend Analog Extmix 2b, but I'm gonna say it'd have to go into my 'Can't Get Into' selection.

What am I missing? Am I alone?

I tend to play the tracks in my 2 hour /day commute to work in a cd in the car. So i never know the names of what i'm becoming familiar with sonically.

I guess this track is very "Aphexy"-lite hence its popularity - electro bass, burbling acid lines, subtle vocally synths. Its poppy and "manageable".

But it too is prob going in my "can't get into" list along with the other two tops ones, Organ 28 and 14 Cornish Spreek5b [st. Nectan S Glen Waterfalls Mix]

They all just seem a bit meh RELATIVELY speaking.

"Dance and Play" still not getting enough love btw!

This is what I was thinking alright. I'm more in the 7z camp than this one.

Incidentally, the new Soundcloud page sucks (unsurprisingly).

  10.

Has anyone else tried MyCloudPlayer.com? I was trying to find an alternative to using the Soundcloud site and this is pretty good.

You can also make playlists and share them. I sorted them into likes and just made a quick playlist of the top 10 likes as an example. Could be good for sharing some playlists easily here.

As usual, best with an adblocker.

wow! this is really a great webapp!

makes it easy to sort the lot of tracks by likes or playcount, in descending order:

It also gives a breakdown of a tracks

BPM; Danceabilty; Enerty; Speechiness (?); Liveness (?)

    Good for a laugh
