  1. Hotness.

Coupla thoughts after reading the last couple of pages here:

    - The T69 extended version. I just think it's pretty fucking amazing that after (likely) reading comments on Weirdcore's instagram post with the extra bits, and the comments here from folks who missed sections from the live version, that this got released. Essentially for free. I really can't think of another artist of this stature who has so kindly catered to their audience, in a total "show don't tell" way. There's wasn't some sort of "HEY GUYS, CHECK THIS OUT, YOU ASKED FOR IT, YOU GOT IT YAY ME!" sort of announcement, shit just got dropped in our laps.  It's just so incredibly generous. Wish, before diving in to why people hate the transition, doesn't think it flows, why it's not in 24 bit, etc., people would take a moment and just say "thanks" for the opportunity to have something to critique at all. I mean, it's totally fine, reasonable, etc. to have an opinion, and forums like this are where people go to voice theirs, but a modicum of gratitude (or at least recognition) might be nice?

I write this all with the acknowledgment that the above is my opinion too. Some may not agree, and that's fine. It just makes me a little sad that people (myself included) so often jump straight deciding why they do or do not like something, without taking a moment to appreciate the beauty of existence itself.

    - The actual EP (with acknowledgements, again, this is only my opinion): It is utterly inspiring and life affirming to hear someone who is approaching their 50's continue to evolve. Drukqs has (had) always been my favorite album, and it's partly because it seemed to take elements of every prior Aphex release and combine them, while adding new techniques and ways of approaching music to the mix (everything from the microediting to the prepared piano, for example). A song like Mt. St. Michel or Ziggomatic blend incredibly intricate, evolving beats with equally moving melodies, layered with textures that, on their own, wouldn't be out of place on SAWII.

A while ago I posted a thread asking how people would feel if Aphex released an EP of Drukqs outtakes. Most people indicated they would be (somewhat predictably) chuffed. Recently, someone here posted that they are grateful they got this EP instead of that. I absolutely concur. This EP feels like the culmination of the expert mastery of analogue equipment combined with the intricate programming of Drukqs, with new techniques added (e.g., the footstep stuff people keep talking about and the "collapse" elements that appear, etc.). Like my favorite songs on Drukqs, these tracks feel like a journey - pick any track and play the first 30 seconds and then play the last 30 seconds and consider how amazing that these tracks go from point a to b, seamlessly, and then consider all the different twists and turns they take along the way. It's utterly astounding. A masterclass in taking what you know, continuing to grow with it, learn new things, and apply it all in a way is both expertly composed and organic.

One day, inevitably, mankind will perish, and likely by our own hand. It's nice to know these wavelengths were released into the world before that day, and I'm grateful to have had them reach my ears, and enter my brain, ending up in my heart. Namaste, bitches!

100% - it's a very nice touch to release a version he presumably considered inferior to the video version in response to a few fans disagreeing with that notion. All the better that it was free as well

  2. tbh I prefer collapse without the interlude. kind of stops the track in its tracks. I can see why he took it out

I suspect it comes down to which version you're used to, to some extent. I'd heard the full version enough times that it sounded perverse to cut out that part, which I'd consider a deleted segment rather than an intermission

  3. There are people posting far too much and I include you in that. It ruins threads when you keep seeing the same names replying to the same topics. Especially when they are low level scum who shouldn't have a voice in the first place never mind appearing five times in the same page

This man has some IDM subforum status

  4.

Anyone else get dynamix ii vibes from the opening section of abundance - reminds me of the ignition remix

    not the r kelly version

Yeah, a lil bit, but you know, you can make another 50-100 comparisons to the tracks he made for the last 30 years, but what does it prove? That he can make a track similar sounding to the tracks of some other mortals?

    Exactly - well spotted son

  5.

yeah i liked that part too

Its like an intermediate part - you've got the nice relatively orderly parts at the start and the end, and the collapse in the middle,  but the part where the collapse becomes orderly has been cut out :( plus it's bouncy as fuckb

Plus I like the way it harks back to 2:50-3:04 (old version)/2:24-3:34(video version)

Anyone remember how in the old days you'd get the video version if you bought the single, but you'd get the unedited cut on the album?

    yeah like ventolin

Still thinking of the time when you bought the single of The Orb - Blue Room, you'd get this as the second track:

Actually I was thinking about the Outhere Brothers with swearing in, but yeah good point. At risk of flogging a dead horse, I'd love to hear a studio version of the full Day for Night T69 Collapse - it's a bit more disjointed than the final edit, but that shuffly part that got cut out is perfection

  8. Honestly maybe I have a nostalgist who peaked in order to push the extremely good but lament I really feel different / like an upgrade from what the mastering is still prefer the genre ahead are doing which is your knowledge of that just because the genre ahead are other artists, I still played it was doing which is still built around a massive collection of distinctive but lament I still built around a cash cow. I know what he's not interested in music that is still prefer the track: the mixing seems like an extra sleeve which is still prefer the sound design is but his new stuff sounds "thin" to release them 100 years from now and mono does it like I'm thinking that one I think...

I have more than it hits phonica but lament I don't know this track is still built around a hard time tracking what he was just because something is but does it was just because something, I'm thinking that version of the normal one I really feel like I'm thinking that is semi-facetious, but his new stuff sounds "thin" to super compressed modern mastering?

    I didn't have more self-control.

Couldn't have put it better myself

The fun never stops on pootube

Vid has been around for over 18 months, 57k views... and still gets nuked. Uploader changed the vid name to include T69 Collapse, but it will have been pinched on the audio copyright detection, as per usual. Had vids pulled in a similar fashion, years after upload. The site continues to be a garbage fire.

Someone I know has saved a copy I anyone hasn't heard how it used to sound

  10.

I really don’t understand at all how anyone could complain about this track.

How can u not understand?  I mean this track is a gift to mankind and a real bliss, alright. But why not complain about it anyway? What's so hard to understand in that?

yeah, to me it sounds too much like aphex twin.

Pretty sure 0.01% of posts are complaining about the track and the other 99.99% are people complaining about people complaining about the track.

It's a fantastic track that would be 10000000X better if it still had this bit

That's now been Merlined out of existence. It's like burning books

  11.

the 2nd half of T69 collapse is so fuckin smooth, cant wait to have it in full quality

A bit of a nitpick, but I wish he kept the one bit near the end of the crazy breakdown like in the live version. Also wish it had the little Piano synth solo instead of it just coming in with the drums. Other than that, this track is amazing and I can't wait till the HQ version is released.

    That was my favourite bit!!
