  1. The good news is 6 tracks with the Barcelona tracks..
But Yes I feel you and that main track is nice but the unreleased stuff he have been played live is much better like the ones he played in Brooklyn for example.

This track is more of a chill electronica track but not so amazing like the one he played at Sonar.

So where do we get to listen to clean copies of these Barcelona tracks?

  2. A new book about Aphex Twin has been released. Entitled Aphex Twin: Every Album, Every Song it systematically goes through each piece of music recorded by Richard D. James under the alias. At 160 pages, it covers Aphex Twin's six studio albums plus EPs on R&S, Warp, Rephlex and other labels. The book also includes releases put out under the names Caustic Window, Polygon Window, Bradley Strider and others. Some material that never received a proper release, such as Melodies from Mars and Aphex Twin's track dumps on Soundcloud are also skipped, though the book does cover the Caustic Window LP, since that was given a limited digital release. The book is part of the On Track series, which also delves into the back catalogues ofother artists including Pink Floyd, Radiohead, The Human League and New Order. At only 17 years old, the author of this latest entry in the series was not alive when most of Richard D James's music was released. That aside, he carefully works through each track, recording catalogue numbers, times and dates, and production information, as well as many of the myths that surround the reclusive artist. Sonicbond Publishing actively recruits music fans from all backgrounds who want to add to the On Track series, and has an open invitation on its website for aspiring writers to get in touch and suggest new books.
New book analyses every Aphex Twin track (Resident Advisor)

Hmm… smells like it could be AI generated, but that’s probably just my prejudice.

  3.

Guess I’ll be listening to the EP starting from 1st 44, skipping T69 because durichroma is so much better. It is a 5 track EP for me.

What the heck are you talking about?
Just saying I like one version better than the other. The extra parts in durichroma sweetened the track for me and now I don’t really enjoy the original that much. Durichroma hits all the right spots, while the former now kinda lacks something. Might change for me after a while but this is how I feel about those two tracks now.

edit: aahh, now I see you probably didn’t know there was another version :) my bad.

  4. no matter what he releases, “ground-breaking” or not, some of us folks will just get used to it after a while and call it “meh”. asking for or wanting/needing good and and exciting music is one thing, being totally unfair to an artist is another. childish af. just want more and more and more. appreciate what you get.

  5. I hope that Collapse will be to his music making what the middle (collapsing) part of T69 is to that track... like a (or another?) turning point in his music making adventures.

And I love the sample inviting us to the land of abundance <3 classic!

  6. funny, how we expect him to do better and better and better, as if we’re not satisfied with the music he’s giving us. just appreciate what is there. he’s not our way to perfection. just a finger pointing at it.

  7.

he's a nostalgist who peaked in the late 90s. he's obsessed with gear now and has been for the last decade. if you're looking for innovation there are other artists. i think aphex has settled nicely into making extremely good electronic music that is still built around a pop framework, which is what he's always done well. his days of pushing the genre ahead are probably over.

Not sure if i'd agree, pushing the genre isn't just about what new sounds one can muster from new technologies. I think there is a ton to be said for composition and thats definately my favorite part of what this latest release has got to offer.

Yeah, and who’s pushing the genre nowadays I’d like to know? Don’t say Autechre...
