  1. i'm pretty ambivalent about an artist releasing an album every fortnight, but i prefer it to the ridiculous X-year wait time and build up for mediocre albums we get from some of my favourite electronic artists. with Aleksei, if it's mediocre, you can move on, next one might be good. with Aphex, then lol. see you in 5 years!

i don't see the point in releasing countless variations of the same tune, apart from the fact that it's a much safer and easier way to pay the bills than exploring new territory. it's the same song structure, the same modal jams over and over and over. so adventurous, much wow. all the lush reverbs in the world can't hide that fact. colundi my ass lol

this is what white people say about reggae

The thing is Epic wouldn’t do this unless they thought they could squeeze significantly more money out of BC than it’s making now. None of the ways I can think of that they could do that are going to make it better for the kind of users that love it for what it is today.

The Tencent connection is gross too.

They can do this by growing the revenue base -- there's no need to change the mechanics of the site, or the payouts to artists etc.

  4. Epic are good owners -- as many have said, they have a reputation for not interfering with their subsidiaries. Bandcamp needs more £££ as the platform is lacking atm, and hard to scale without serious investment in engineering talent (which is super expensive). Can see it working tbh.

Worth adding that it's the perfect platform to take on Spotify with -- given how much bad press Spotify's been getting of late. A hybrid Premium streaming/ Bandcamp service would be great.

London-based artist Wordcolour returned in late 2021 with a playful new single ‘Bluster’ and now to follow up, here are three new editions of the track from DJ Python, Djrum and The Soft Pink Truth. Leading with Djrum’s dizzying remix on the 17th February, the full release is slated to drop on 12” vinyl and digital the 1st April.

DjRum remix just landed and is very good.

If you haven't heard Wordcolour's other stuff -- highly recommended. Juno Way EP, which came out in 2020, contains some of the most bonkers fun techno/ IDM tracks I've heard in a long time. Guy is a natural.
