A Light for Attracting Attention by The Smile Pretty dull and damp Sunday where I am so I’m frittering and wasting my time in an offhand way and thought I’d start this rolling. I think it’s exceedingly good. What do you think?

In an Orbital video, Paul Hartnoll was talking about his studio equipment and there was some interesting info in the background on his planner and it's related to Orbital's 30th Anniversary next year and the plans for a release and here's what it said. So on the far left: Orbital 30 re-record Halcyon Chime Belfast Lush Impact Satan The Box = this is Orbital's idea they've had for a while now - to re-record, in the studio, the classic tracks as they are being played live now. So this is essentially a live style disc. This will be 10 tracks for this disc. So there are still a few more to add to this list. I would imagine possible candidates for …

When we first discovered RX-101’s output on Soundcloud circa 2015, we knew we’d stumbled upon something very special. Five EPs and four albums later, and now a firmly established as a crucial artist in the Aphex/Rephlex/IDM cannon, we at Suction Records are still mining this elusive Dutch producer’s 1997-1999 archive of unreleased live-to-cassette recordings, and we’re not even close to scraping the bottom of the barrel. Suction Records is pleased to announce RX-101’s fifth album, “New Discoveries”. As the title suggests, “New Discoveries” is not just more of the same — this is a new side of the RX-101 sound. Rather than taking inspiration from braindance heroes like Ap…

The continuously edited, autonomous piece of code as which Atom™ defines itself enters the hot state of flow. »Neuer Mensch« (»new human«) is the relentless, visceral expression of metamorphosis. A projection of the metahuman horizon, an exercise in shedding the exoskeleton. Dead tissue is being torn off in radical body movements. Dead ideas are crushed by feet, dancing the dance of brutal elegance. Somatic exorcism via hyper realistic surfaces of binary noise. Physicality. Unseen geometries dressed in the most basic of rhythmic patterns - simple structures of hidden symmetries. The false promise of linear progress as it shatters, hitting the barrier of sound. Familiar vo…

2nd album from Patricia Wolf. I'm looking forward to this. If you like your ambient and field recording work, do check out the first album on Past Inside the Present. Balmat is Shaping up to be a great label, the Hoavi release was excellent. Would have liked to have snagged a copy of Languid Gongue.

MLO is one of my long-time ambient favourites from the early 90s, I especially love Io. Music From Memory continue their Virtual Dreams series with this compilation, highly recommended.

Pre-order/samples/more words at: https://www.anost.net/release/DE05/alva-noto-ryuichi-sakamoto/vrioon Probably out on May 26th going off of shipping dates. Seems that the Virus series is finally getting proper LP pressings, along with added bonus tracks! Really cool. I guess it hasn't been officially announced yet (can't find it on Noton's website) but I may as well share it given the link. Really looking forward to the Insen repress 😛

Skittering beats, glitchy scratchy nastiness, discernible Autechrean influences, and a couple of tracks with King Kashmere on rhyme duty. Bandcamp has only one track, Juno has clips. I'll wait until full release, but tentatively recommended.

Three label compilations with enough glitch to make you itch like a [redacted], presenting a wide swatch of PSEA and related artists. All PWYW, highly recommended.

A beautiful remix release of Digitonal's most recent album's tracks; Digitonal is in my all-time top 10 favourite artists, so this comes extremely highly recommended. Teensy weensy bit pricey, but worth it.

70+ tracks of beats, beats, and almost nothing but beats, all half-time stompers, like walking through molasses. Probably most usable as a *step DJ toolkit.

bit of mystery artist this one. apparently made some stuff in the 90's now he is back. doesn't really matter. ambient dubby droney stuff. i haven't heard much but he has piqued my interest. boomkat laid it on thick describing it as "a figment of the pre-internet era tapping into a similar consciousness as Biosphere, Chain Reaction or early Fax +49-69/450464”. discography is mostly vinyl only and hard to come by - but a new album is available on bandcamp this week.
