It gave me an error message when I tried to submit my lyrics about wanting to get murdered so that you don't die alone. Though it does show that it's trying to generate something. But I think if it can't do this then that's a good sign that the computers will not win, because people will need to be able to sing about being murdered

Update on this: the system was just overloaded and it did eventually accept this (yay!) but it's only doing 30 seconds at a time right now I guess, so it crammed all the lyrics together and skipped some, so it seems like that kind of thing will have to wait

I did actually get it to restrict my ability to run prompts after I asked it for "dolphinpilled flipmaxxers leave the horsecels seething", which is fair. I think that's a fair restriction on free speech. I've been trying to convince it to not make music, since anyone can get this thing to spit out some music. But it takes some negotiating to make it not make music, you can get some pretty fun stuff if you approach it that way https://www.udio.com/songs/mA5oP7B23xMSjZc9vVNruR

Edit: didn't want to spam in here but I think this is my best attempt at getting it to not make music but it's still pretty musical https://www.udio.com/songs/p9FcKQe9GMxzuXxzbHuxLY

  3. Suno is frustrating to me because it doesn't seem to know what power pop is, like sometimes it sounds kind of country? And then I try to be more clear but it gives me this https://app.suno.ai/song/e4b49b8f-00cc-41d2-8775-919472372d31/ how can I make it more clear to suno what I want to hear

If you ask it for quirky twee indie, NO PROBLEM, it can nail that https://app.suno.ai/song/892ec5cf-b8b8-4cab-984b-f1903b984bf1/ and it can do some incredible work with 60s british invasion pop rock https://app.suno.ai/song/d18c8e52-a7b0-4d4d-9a82-68953677588f/ but if you ask it for power pop it looks at you like you're crazy.

  4. Doing a release like this and not going on twitter to mix it up with people would be like buying records when you don't even have a record player. Like what, you're not even gonna use that thing?

Also, if getting cancelled means "people post the full provided context of something you've done and then people ask what's up with it", I would love to be cancelled. People should be puzzling over the things I've done but they won't because I refuse to use edgy language (don't wanna get in trouble)

i don't think it's too hard to see how hyper-capitalist entities and consumers use ostensibly woke language or concepts to push themselves up in a system that's inherently exploitative and oppressive for the very minorities it claims to valorize

This seems like a good idea to push against this, but wouldn't it be more effective if it were done with good music? I think this track is already protected from any risk of co-option by the capitalists due to it being entirely unappealing on an auditory level

  6. So if I'm not mistaken, the implicit full title of these sorts of questions is "what do ladies like in exchange for providing a sexual relationship"? Because I think if you don't have that with a woman, and wish to gain it, you may have a very large roadblock if your only interest in women as people only goes as far as asking "what is her price?"

  7. The thing you have to keep in mind about free speech is that we are currently living through a major shift in communication on the scale of the printing press. Just look at the speech we have going on now in this thread. This isn't normal. If the annoying guy from that one Norman Rockwell painting read this shit he would throw up with disgust and probably give up speech altogether.

What happens when they do this to you?

Those of you out there who exploit the deaths of children for personal gain without any concern for the damage it does to their surviving families have gotta be feeling pretty nervous right now. Like hey buddy, I got bad news: you're next!

  9. The stuff that comes up in this deposition that shows how he encouraged beliefs in viewing the Sandy Hook parents as crisis actors and having people on the show giving out addresses seems like a good reason to hate him

Like even if its a situation where "he's just voicing these peoples concerns and the reasons that they think these people are crisis actors" or whatever, it still seems pretty detestable for someone to be finding a way to profit off the situation

I'm not sure what you were referring to here though: "it's just offensive that you could think to do this", is this about wanting to transition? And do you have ideas about why you felt negatively about the changes?

Oh that post was very much in the 'first draft best draft' type of thinking, and this quote is a good example of why that kind of thinking is wrong. Because it is very unclear!

That quote is meant to be my understanding of "society's voice", the majority position of disgust over any amount of corruption in the sex assigned at birth and lack of adherence to gender roles. I've even seen people on the pro-transgender side of things say shit like "if someone has ever had doubts about their gender, they can't be cisgender, they're at least non-binary". It's like in the first Resident Evil movie when the cgi british child is explaining how zombie virus is transmitted and says "one bite, one *scratch*", like all it takes is one little bit of queerness and you're permanently corrupted. I feel like that pressure is extreme for straight cisgender men already, but let me tell you, it's even greater when you're secretly transgender.

But yeah, things are personally great for me, I went to the surgeon and said "I want you to take my balls... off", like the way Nicholas Cage did in Face Off. And since I had insurance and a therapist wrote a letter saying I was cool, they did it. It turns out a lot of my gender dysphoria was stored in the balls, and it's been pretty amazing to see how people get to live without that weighing them down.

As always I am flabbergasted by the amount of new music people here explore each year. I guess I'm mostly focused on older stuff...

Yeah I think for me, I've always had a lot of fun focusing on the new music, though I think I found a better balance for new and old this year

    Screenshot_20231203_135353_Sheets.jpg.fdcbfe928d9716914a4a58ae1f3295ac.jpg

This got me to 438 releases from 2023, so about 1.3 a day so far. Though I'm probably going to go wild digging through all the stuff that people mention in their lists, like I just found out about this very peculiar mix of synthy arabic popular music and jazz, so psyched for all the coming discoveries like this one

Did everyone hear the Hakushi Hasegawa single that came out this year on brainfeeder? It's less IDM-adjacent than his single from last year, but I think it should still be of interest to many ppl here
