probably been done before but whatever

I took like the first 200 digits of pi and assigned a sample to each number. So like, 3 triggers sample 3 etc. the samples are from some LIVE ANALOGUE JAM on freesound not mine

tried to expand it by deriving other non-repeating numbers from pi. I dunno if it's any better though

oh yeah the story behind it is probably more interesting. I thought of that guy who sees pi as psychedelic lisa frank/bryce landscapes and that's why he's so good at memorizing the digits of pi. So I thought I'll try something like that by assigning each number a sound and see if it's possible to memorize it better somehow/see if it sounds not so random/like musical code or something. Also something about sounds creating soundscapes/more than the sum of their parts

I still wonder about that shit like is the lisa frank landscape thing just an artifact of extra brain activity/stimulation or is it just that you can apply that information by living your whole life with it/more abstraction to work off of

This is a really interesting idea. I wanted to hear a beat drop during the first version. I think it wouldn't degrade the purity of the experiment, and it could have a nice groove.

I uh made a python script to kind of 'decode' the digits into a diagram of the drum hits and note values, I might mess around with decoding pi with some more interesting rules. I'm probably in way over my head though

a really interesting idea. some suggestions if you don't mind, why not just have the melody be the samples and have a pad underneath it all. and add a little rhythm to the samples too. instead of them just playing on the beat. thats what i would do.

You could have it loop eight digits twice, then move on to loop the next eight digits, creating kind of a melodic rhythm to it as well.
