    Please tell me he used the tricksy double psychology option to sarcastically pretend to not understand what was going on.

    I've seen alot of ways of making out RDJ "has got it" but this is a reach beyond, mate

    the extensive Aphex Twin mythos that developed out of his wild and essentially unverifiable claims: that he lived in a bank vault, drove a tank, shared the name of his dead brother, was sitting on a trove of a thousand unreleased songs. Over time, he grew into electronic music's very own misanthropic version of Paul Bunyan.


    Pitchfork: What does the release of this album mean to you?


    RDJ: End of a chapter. It's like, “OK, fuck that lot off.” Now I can now concentrate on some new stuff. And you can't quite do that unless you've released something. I mean, you can, but you can't properly. Because I've been making music and releasing it for so long, I've got that production-line thing in my brain: I can't do anything new until the last one's out.



    dave:So when can we expect more music released?


    rich: Its kind of a bit depressing really as warp just told me if i give them something completed by the end of this week it will be out in january! fuck me, thats a long wait, it this kind of thing that stops me wanting to release anything, its like ok were on a roll now lets get something out next week, then couple weeks after that, a few weeks after that etc.

    It just doesn't fill me with excitement to want to put anything out.

    I don't wanna knock them as they are a lovely bunch but they got their stuff to put out first which they obviously think is worth releasing so ..and i suppose they can't employ an office full of people to sit around waiting for me to do some music,suppose :)


    That should give some insight as to why he's doing the soundcloud thing.

    Drukqs was 13 years ago mayne.

    Still feels new. I wasn't there when it released, but when I first heard it, it sounded new so that's a thing.

    I remember how awesome it was at the when it came out and I got the NME that had avril 14th on it. Everyone hated drukqs at the time cause it wasn't melodic like RDJ album but now it's a legendary album, as it so rightly deserves.

 @rad-velocity: i tried out all the cassettes i could afford and "that's VX90's' were pretty good, i used to keep the deck in good order, clean the heads, adjust them etc, ill post link to the model , i got another mint one for next to nothing recently, so could prob make WAY better encodings now, always best to use the same deck or same model as one you recorded on.

 @kinbotte: ive never found one i really liked. i would love to design my own with someone who could build it for me, I dont really want to spend my time building instruments. Elektron RYTM is prob fave right now, although it doesn't sample which is a shame, dsi tempest, RSF SD140, Pearl fightman[needs mods], Pearl sc40,doepfer a112, Dynacord Add one,loads good plugins these days, sds3, Klone dual perc synth. For synth drum sounds, always best to make your own on a modular+imagination, can make more complex and original sounds than any of the above really, just more of a pain to conjure up.

 @arthurjohnsonmusic: we are always changing, if i go back to something literally 5-10 minutes later I will do it very differently and i did this about 20 years ago! so.. , yeah I hardly even recognise myself, so you just have to appreciate yourself in the moment and go with it . I love your early 90's stuff so much, I was doing stuff in the early 90’s, similar to you but I didn't know about you when I did it !
