  1. I also hate the drum sounds in Flep -- I don't know if it's the sound themselves or the way they're programmed to stutter like they do, but it just sounds like an old FL stock sample? No, that's not the right way to put it -- but it just sounds kind of old-school IDM cliche to me. I feel like an asshole saying that, but it makes me want to skip the track as soon as it starts with that big stutter!

Kinda sounds like this doesn't it?

But I really dug the groove of this one. It immediately got my up out of my chair and shuffling and bobbing around the room on my first listen.

  2. what is this all about? it was retweeted 11 times http://www.honeyee.com/news/music/2013/004937/

    edit: translation

In a career of more than 20 years, continue to be a solitary unit of the electronic music scene always charismatic, Autechre. So far, based on deep love for hip-hop-beat music, has been sublimated and beautiful soundscape to torsion from every angle of various musical elements, and Kunesu fan, a different dimension.

And Con field "," incunabula "" Amber was towing ", Thom Yorke has professed its impact, masterpiece" historical "name board became the cornerstone of the" Kid A the artificial intelligence of the early 90's "Steps Over" became a 10 of his memorable. In "Egusai", the latest version Subsequently, it is as if the answer to the fundamental question "and Autechre it? Something" that, with two blockbuster set that spans more than two hours.

Such as melody full of euphoria washed by suddenly work now "section Autechre" just has exploded and cut-up beat, hardcore lead to a different dimension and perspective that you leave ordinary people like distort space-time, those who listen. Further experiments could also feel, and to follow the history of Autechre has been built up so far, would say epic in the true sense of the word.

As if to give the finger Internet instant music, "Egusai" work now that is configured by beautiful soundscapes that sound exhausted calculated until the perfect sound pressure, and beat. By Autechre, history of electronic music will be updated again.

I think just Japan in general? I recall reading that Ae has a huge following in Tokyo (as does twitter) and they regularly sell out shows when they tour there. As lumpenprol said, the text is similar to what was on the beatink page.

  3. people

i had my first autechre dream last night

    ...

people here were psyched about the release and were big upping ae all over the place

    ...

it's only the 2nd dream like this i've ever had. the first one was about getting a ps2.

Man, if only they could get the recognition in the music overworld. The PS2 appeared to be a huge success so I'll take it as a good sign! :w00t:

  4.

I've said it before and I will say it again. R.I.P. > Oversteps.

    ouch,

major picard face palm on this one. Maybe if Autechre put the whole

album througjh Ableton side chain and shitty crackle filter i wouldnt be

    so picard right now

super duper feeling deco Loc right now. Bladerunnerlores, tuinorizn, T ess xi are superduper too... deco Loc has the sickest vocal sample

can't wait to hear it! what kinda vocal is it? talking or completely insane or wha?

the first one (there's two) sounds like some fucked up male choir, but it kind of sounds like an RnB phrasing. It's ducking to the kick drum. The other is a hip hop sounding one. one word, but you can't tell what it is obviously.

first one could be a vocal synthesis pad tho

I assume sidechain compression and ducking are basically the same thing?

  5. Quaristice's cover is funny. The typography is a hoot. I love that all the information is right on the front. I don't get very much blue from the music though.

On the other hand, I don't like Q as much as most of their stuff, haha. So far our opinions of the art has kind of correlated with musical preferences. Is it possible that the cover art has influence on what we hear? Or that what we hear in the music has changed our perception of the art? If there is any discord in the two is our reasoning of the art as a whole package placed in either direction?

  6. Uncreative? Cause its a photo? To me it captures the ambient space techno jams perfectly. Alien but not completely abstract. A faded memory of another world.

Yeah, despite Amber being spacey it somehow is very familiar and close. Early 90s vision of sci-fi - it looks plastic. But it's totally real and the Earth has already created it, which makes it real strange - such an alien thing right at home.

I'm not saying the covers are the most perfect they can be but Sean and Rob are very good at recognizing visuals that correspond to their atmosphere.

  7. I really dig the cover for Untilted. As usual it seems to be quite representative of the music. Are the different blue figures the same thing but angled in different ways and at different distances (the upper ones tilted to appear as super acute near-lines)? The white and yellow "swishes" - totally vertical like the tunes, while the yellow one is sliced with the remaining spire of a single line continuing all the way to the upper edge. 3D and planar, solid and paper thin, ambiguous. Sleek, super glitchy, quite stylish. It would look cool as a portrait in my hallway.

    </pretention>

  8. This is definitely the release that made me a fan, past a "casual" listener. Not only is it maddeningly, impossibly crazy beats like the most intricate engine ever running itself into the ground, but much of it is really beautiful like fog rolling into a valley in morning.

At the time I had only heard a handful of albums but after this became an all-time fav I quickly starting getting into the others (Confield, Chiastic Slide, Draft, the ones that hadn't made instant impressions before). It took much longer for me to have an emotional response to those but I was always intrigued. Untilted gave me context for the rest.

Ipacial Section may as well match my heartbeat when it rattles my head around.

  9. Has anyone considered holding off playing one of the discs for a few months after release or something? Just to give themselves the experience of a second Ae release if none comes ala Quadrange or Move of Ten.

I've thought about only listening to the vinyl discs one at a time, so split in fours. I'd really also like to listen on headphones since my system speakers aren't quite that good. Who knows if I have the control for that though. I'll treat it as more than an experiment.

If (when) files come soon, I'll probably burn them onto a disc and time capsule it til I need it.

  10. I'm not really a gamer but I came to this thread out of boredom and watching gameplay videos. A previous gamer roommate of mine recommended Yume Nikki to me and I really got into it for the time, collected about half of the effects before I got bored from running through the same areas over and over.

I can't say however that it's a good game allegory to SAWII and I obviously won't have a good one to recommend.

The game is not structured at all and it's random by appearance. It's more trippy and unrealistic rather than still solid colored infrastructure that I hear in SAWII. If you play games to complete goals then you won't find anything exciting in this game. It's not avant-garde at all, just an ambient game for the sake of wandering, but not definitely not through any beautiful deserts. Taking walks and making turns for no reason with unexpected sickly changes in dynamic.

I don't know if this has been mentioned but someone made a "game" based on this that should be pretty neat:
