  1. I love seeing how many of you also have the ikea kallax somehow in your studio

So i come here mostly for insight and assistance. After years, i have gotten all my machines unified and plugged into a mixer in proximity to each other, which is a personal feat on its own

What i can't quite make a decision on is 1. how i want to get all of these midi connected so that they are in perfect sync and sequenced from my computer and 2. if i want to keep them all in this exact layout for ease of use

Midi has always been kind of a headache for me so plz help

For what it's worth, from left to right i have a Yamaha rx-5, Roland jp-08, Boss dr-880, Roland tb-3 (meh), Korg microkorg, Yamaha DX, Korg ea-1, Korg minilogue, Mackie profx16, Korg es-1, Roland sh-01, Korg er-1, Roland tr-909, Roland tb-03, and Roland tr-8

    Nice looking studio there bud

  2. So, who is Bernard then? The show seems all over the place right now.

Kind of a little up in the air now, Ford basically told us last night that Bernard is a robotic clone of Arnold and that Dolores killed the original Arnold. But we are learning to distrust what ever Ford says because basically he is manipulative and seems to lie at his own convenience. Very possible that Arnold never existed and Bernard was created by Ford to act as his assistant. So either way Bernard is really just Arthur 2.0 wether or not the original Arnold was a robot or not. So yeah nothing really confirmed on that front yet.

  3. Not the best TV series I've ever seen but I've enjoyed it, looking forward to the finale for sure.

Big ass nerdy spoilys conspiracy theories:

Confirmed to be multiple timelines happening concurrently. Consensus seems to be that the Man in Black (Ed Harris) is William / Billy in the future.

  4. I got mine earlier this week, the packaging on all of them is amazing. There is soo much thought and design put into all of them that you would never know about if you didn't have them in front of you.

Amber is such a good example of how to use the space on a Gatefold well.

  5. I'd love to start filling one of these.

I saw a nice quote on this forum this week from someone discussing a theory (was called plunder-something) that electronic musicians make their best music of their career when they have little to no gear at their disposal. Can't find the quote for the life of me right now unfortunately.

Found it - from the Minilogue thread

I found this interview with Tatsuya Takahashi (creator of the Minilogue) a very interesting read, guy seems to be very into what he's doing
    https://www.attackmagazine.com/features/long-read/the-democratisation-of-synthesis-korg-designers-on-the-making-of-the-minilogue/

Takahashi is the dude. I feel like he should be a household name for synth nerds by now.

This is great, I like the way he says the Volca designs were deliberately inspired by the limitations of the crap 2nd-hand gear that early techno producers were using.

Yeah that is the feel that I get out of the Volca line up. They're *very* good at one thing and not so good at everything else. There is lots of room to explore and trick the machines into doing different things they were not designed to do and get around the limitations.

Yes and I think that's fantastic. I've surely mentioned this elsewhere but it reminds me of Tom Ellard's idea of "fleacore":

Fleacore is the principle that most interesting and exciting electronic music is created by people early in their careers, using extremely cheap and shit equipment (from flea markets) ... [W]hen things are cheap they haven't got a famous sound, so people make new music on them instead.

  6.

14:52 - How are there different sounds within the same sequence? or is it just the same sound modulated? It's sounds really nice

Modulation of filter decay and resonance I reckon.

This thing is gonna be dank for writing loopy sequences. Nice and focused.

Its like we got Dan from Akai all over again, the Sweetwater Demos sound not good. The Korg Demos on their soundcloud sound good

  7. Thanks for the advice everyone. Think I'll keep my eyes peeled for a sale and purchase then.

Does anyone have any experience using it alongside Ableton Live 9 as a 64bit VST plugin?

That is how I use it. Haven't encountered any issues with it. Its a great plugin I use it on pretty much everything, I have barely even scratched the surface of Blocks or the User Library. You get access to an awful lot for the money.

  8. Legowelt's got a new contest on his site...

The GRAND Legowelt Nightwind Records Drawing Competition

Just wondering do y'all think 3D renders are OK?  I should probably just ask the man himself

I asked him a question on twitter one time and he got back pretty quick

  9. Could be in this thread already but I'm not about to dig through it to confirm (I ran a search for the User URL on here but nothing). But the Account that created the Uchood trax playlist has heaps of uploaded tracks. I don't recognize any of them and they sound very Aphex
