    Annabelle - 1/5

So bad. Jump scares were so predictable and story line was all over the shop. One thing I did appreciate was how the horror wasn't just used in the dark quiet of a creepy house, but was brought out too - in plain sunshine, however it was still an utter waste of money and time. The only positive...

    Ye na, no positives.

These people don't know how to make a horror movie. I think of them as horror movies for people who don't like horror movies. They're all trash.
Incidious 2 was alright I guess but for the most part they are tailored a certain way, I guess. Blah blah I envy the people that saw the exorcist for the first time way back when, proper scared they would have been!

I might just read the book before the movie then, thanks! I didn't know there was a TV series... that sounds good.

From the looks of the trailer the casting seems decent, so hoping the movie will live up to expectations.

it was a miniseries, 2 feature films. you're not familiar with that face?

    timeline_1471545218_00032.jpg

Hehe... Sure seen that mug before, just didn't know about the mini series... Sorry - don't shoot... just ordered my copy of the book though.

Hoping 'It' will be as good as it looks. May read the book. Any good?

    the book is nice.

i have very low expectations for this film judging from the trailers. i'm a huge fan of the tv series and this looks plain shitty to me. we'll see.

  6. It's cool, doesn't bother me if we disagree. Just the combination of how mediocre (ok I was exaggerating a bit) they were, how overly seriously they took themselves, and how hard the fanboys rode Nolan's dick for that very "grittiness" nauseates me.

Heath really did do excellent work with the retarded 2d character he was handed. RIP

*toast* to heath! At least one thing to agree on
  7.

I can't see anyone surpassing the work of tdk trilogy,

I just barfed a little. These were utter shit.
Just coz I said that didn't mean I meant they were masterpieces or something geez, however I don't see the likes of batman forever in the same light, and maybe someone could do a better job, but you can't deny tdk's impact, putting heath ledger's death aside and all. It was a very good film I thought. You can nit pick all you want, everyone can have their subjective opinion. It don't mean shite though
  8. Good Time - Fucking sensational. I loved every minute of this shit. The theater had the volume up a little too loud I think, but it made that OPN score overpowering in good way.

Hounds of Love - I really wanted to like this, but it was predictable to the point of feeling pointless.

As it was based on true events, the unpredictability wasn't ever main focus, I felt. Acting was decent though. For a low budget I didn't mind it.
That's fair, the film itself never really had me though.
Yeah I get that, as a whole it had a kind of crime TV program or documentary feel to it minus a commentator voice over.

  10. For me speaking in batman terms. I can't see anyone surpassing the work of tdk trilogy, not in my lifetime anyway. Especially the second instalment, maybe I was more impressionable back then. I am also comparing it to all the batman movies before Nolan's take - I just thoroughly enjoyed those movies, his style of putting a film together really suited the superhero, zimmer's work on tdk was tremendous, also.

  11. Ferris Bueller's Day Off 9/10 first time I'd seen this, extremelt watchable, had a smile on my face throughout

David Brent: Life On The Road 1/10.......

Leaving D.C 5/10 (I have a soft spot for found footage films)

Speed 9/10 I was a young buck when this came out and remember falling head over heels in love with Sandra Bullock. In retrospect still one of the best action films of the 90s, so enjoyable, though the dialogue remains sub cheese.

Wichita 4/10 most of the film was a let down, 4 stars for the first quarter which was really promising

A Cure For Wellness 8/10 maybe it was because I went into this thinking it was a low budget film about a guy joining a cult (way off the mark) but this was quite impressive. I Like how they had the balls to go with a fully blown OTT ending.

Get Out 5/10 Despite its subject matter this remains a little..dull. Kind of stiff acting and everything done by the numbers. Nothing particularly bad, but nothing particularly good either.

I quite liked David Brent. I felt sorry for the poor bastard. You could call him anything under the sun, so to speak, but in the end he was just a lonely guy trying really hard, I just felt for him, you know? So he became likeable to me, and so did that movie.

    3.5/5

  12. Extortion - 3/5

This was surprisingly well made I thought. Co staring Barkhad Abdi speaking some broken Spanish and accidentally killing someone dear, Danny glover in a Carribean lethal weapon thing he did was aight I guess though kind of a nuisance actually. Basically a couple of unexpected moments made this movie watchable. The suspense also good, here and there.

  13. Wonder woman. Saw this whilst the girlfriend was having a haircut, picked it over spider man, coz you know - I didn't give a monkeys sack. Anyway, who's bright ideas was it to have Ares fashion that stupid moustache, that ruined the whole God damn experience for me, that and "men are only needed for reproduction, but not for pleasure" crap from the wonder herself, what an asshole!

    3/5

  14. The Eyes of My Mother.

my nibbas, this was great. one of the best horror films I've seen recently. for what it set out to do, I have a hard time faulting it for anything - story, pacing, acting, direction, score, cinematography, all tight and in just the right balance. the ending could have been a bit more developed, I guess. but it gets to you in a way that many other films which might cover the same subject matter would fail to, through its reserve and naturalistic direction. and it's this director's first effort! I'm keeping an eye on this guy.

Saw this with my mother... She was well disturbed from it and praised it heaps.

why are most science fiction films horror films? anyhoo- this starts off really promising (with some gravity-esque cinematography) before devolving into an alien ripoff with scientist breaking all rules of science, logic and common sense to release an alien into their habitat. very cliche and predictable- right up to the point where someone dies and there's a closeup of the characters face as they settle into an accepting solace of their doom before they're quickly eaten

btw: how can the alien live in the vacuum of space but gets really cold when they turn off life support on the ship?

four alien jelly fish out of ten

Yeah I saw this today, the only thing I liked about it was the end, which I found really funny, Gyllenhaal's face of shock and disappointment... Was too funny. I must admit I wasn't expecting that much of a fkup, sure maybe there were hints pointing at that ending but, I didn't care to notice. That ending alone gets 4/5 rubber gloves, the acting in this though was so recycled, like straight out of interstellar or some other crap fest.

    Cure for wellness: 2/5

There was a lot left to be desired from the way the story was being given to me. I got beautiful photography, and locations, creepy acting and man there was a lot of tension through out that kept building, and streching like a rubber band, ready to snap. But the story became a joke by the end, could have been more direct maybe? The delivery of the main story, that is. The creepy smile at the end? What was that... Just added to the confusion for me.

Yeah, I watched this too over the weekend. It was utter wank. 2/5 is being generous.

My girlfriend and I thought it was us not "getting it" and planning a second watch of it, but I now I see the light... Total wank is what it was... Cheers

The most horrifying bit was watching that CGI deer after the car crash.

Eels in jars. Not exactly terrifying. It was like the film wanted be Cronenberg and Lynch but ended up being neither.

Yeah that and old people nudity was quite traumatic

    she's scary.

Scary in the way I would have totally been into in high school

    Yesh!

    Hounds of love - 3/5

I thought it was very nicely done, on a tight budget of 750k the acting was actually really good. I mean, I was actually disturbed there for a minute. Reflecting on it - I feel the choice of not having any graphic stuff, was a good one, my mind was made to fill the gaps, which it couldn't help doing because it's so dirty.

    Requiem for a dream - 4.5/5

Holy fuck it got intense in the end, made even more so with camera and sound effects. This movie made me feel really sad for older, lonely ladies. I really felt the love between the 2 main male characters (leto and wyans) and their mothers - but man what brutal story telling... I was laughing at stages, sure... Just from some of ridiculousness found in the lead up, but as it unfolded, I really started feeling the pain for these people, and his arm...ouch.

I think Ellen Burstyn gives maybe the best performance I've ever seen in any film. Made my friend cry the first time he saw it.
Yes! She was outstanding, I was close to tears for sure, great performance, powerful film.

  21. Eraserhead, well... what can I say? except - is it a photograph of a mushroom cloud by his bed? If so, is the place they live in radioactive? That would explain (kind of) his offspring...
