That new Ross from Friends album is incredible. I'm actually glad you mentioned that. Ppl need to check out 'Family Portrait' right now.
^^^^this, but the knife is hands down the best track on it imo, wicked sampling/percussion, i want more in that vein, and longer in duration pls
Damn good track. So many IMO. My personal favorite Brainfeeder release.. by quite a lot.

my god this thread is a downer.
sounds like ross from friends except less experienced

I've listened to 'abundance' more times than any track on any of the newer EPs by a large margin already.
-
You heard it from Span. Best since the reversal in Alberto.
dammit I got no acces to a pc for a week and a bit, missed this hype train for now..Everybody bootleggin the shit outta the new EP - get it while it's hot!
is it more of the same? I saw span said it was his best since rushup edge.. is that 4realz?
Balsalm.

That can go unsaid, obviously.Cannabis + EP .. A must try.
If I just heard the single I wouldn’t think that at all.

Deleted this from my computer last night until it drops in full quality. The urge to redownload is killing me.
I’ve had like 30 “final listens”.

Aphex Twin is still pushing boundaries and that is what separates him from other artists that simply conform to what's current and trendy. Aphex Twin creates the trends and draws that line in the sand for artists of all genres of music. Genius. The vocals in every song line up perfectly with their stellar soundscapes. The world is better because of Aphex Twin. Awaiting the full EP with bated breath.
Is this your actual opinion? even with sloppy reverb tails and you never wanting to hear '1rst 44' again? Not being sarcastic. I'm actually curious.

do you actually see people typing on watmm? news to me
You can also set up notifications when Pitchfork is lurking.
-
WATMM is never friendly unless you praise Autechre first
I find this place pretty friendly. Every forum is full of snark and jaded what-have-you. So easy to ignore. We should all just follow Ivan Ooze's lead.

Syro and eps conjured up images of dusty old machines, tape decks, and cottages. This stuff makes me conjure images of Space Shamans and bug eyed sun worshipping tribal raves. That has to be a positive thing.

now I want a BoC footwork album and pretty much all my favourite artists' take at footwork
I want to hear footwork artists take on IDM.
-
honestly i want him to repeat himself. if i wanna hear something completely different i just listen to a different artist
It's clearly him. There is a lot of his signature sound in this but Analord/Tuss/Syro/EPs this is not.
-
I think this is the most original he has been since Windowlicker. I remember when Drukqs came out ppl were saying he was "repeating himself" even then. I can understand that a bit honestly as much as I love Drukqs. This is nearly HAB level of holy shit-ness.

I had trouble sleeping last night I was so buzzed by this EP. “African rave” beats from Indiana, mixed with aphex majesty is apparently my cup of tea.
-
I want to live in that middle-section of abundance10edit.
saaaaaame.
-
If this EP is a precursor to a new album I will shit. Still can't get over how amazing it is.
-
My drukqs comparison is lazy. This is much newer than that.. and frankly more exciting than a drukqs rehash. It’s unrepetative with nimble beats flying everywhere... but with a vibey, spacey, emotional undercurrent that gives me a bigger buzz than anything he has released since... Jesus.... a very very long time.

Haha^^ So it is really THAT good guys?! Ur making it verry dificult for me to wait, hahaha
In my currently super hyped opinion.. Collapse is the weakest track (still good) ..everything else is top tier. Emotive, complex percussion, eerie. This might sound trite but even the bass is huge sounding. I’d almost equate it to drukqs style but more refined/controlled. I fuckin’ love it.

This is such a fucking good EP. I'm a little ashamed to be so surprised at how awesome this is. Really early to make such a claim.. but right now I think this blows Syro and every EP after that out of the water.
-
caved.... and love.... holy shit. All the "next level" jokes aside.. This is definitely NEW SHIT. I've never heard anything like 1rst 44 from the Phex Man. Well it's clearly him but fresh as nuts.
-
Gave it a proper listen with good headphones, video playing full screen and at home.. Loved it.. and need more. Thank you Phex and Weirdcore.
Aphex Twin - Collapse EP

I don't have a dog in this fight but this sounds like ambient techno. What makes 'trap' 'trap' to you exactly? Just that tempo and the beat made on a drum machine? That is a metric FUCK TON of music.
