is there a specific part I should be listening to for this? i cant tell, if its a different mix it's strange the track title would be exactly the same (doesn't seem to follow his previous naming conventions)
Already mentioned this earlier, but 0m55s - 1m13s is where it's at. If only that bit was in the proper released version :)
Yeah, I slowed the track down to 33 1/3 and that bit there is shocking good, lush padwork and the drums are almost windowlickerish. Top bit of the track. The end gets a bit too hardcore for me, but c'est la vie

interesting. i've had boxenergy4 remix on my computer for years, but didn't know what it was and then forgot about it.

AFX just posted a status update with a dinner with andre clip that is fucking brilliant. And some insightful replies on a not particularly insightful comment.

You know, 500 pages of this is only 2.19298245614 pages per track of the ol' dump. Doesn't seem like all that much actually.

Does anyone know the date of when Richard made the rest of the last batch of Soundcloud uploads downloadable?
he just opened the floodgates on phlonge and in the sky earlier this week, no? Very recent.

new description for 14 Floating∞ [swimming in god mix]: 1994
new description for 21 Gak Police: another one with samples form the 'borrowed' police cassette
As in The Police? Interesting...
Not the sting band, ricardo had talked about getting a police interview tape from a friend that worked at a station. Stabbing_Interview is literally sampled from an interview about a stabbing. Something along those lines.

Yeah, I keep feeling like a new apex twin release should be announced by warp any day now- but then again, I've been thinking the next Burial record is a week away for two years.

Am I the only one who finds it weird that there are only 590 votes at the moment?
Considering there are more than 67.000 followers on Soundcloud...
I don't expect all of them to vote, but a bit more surely, will the link to the poll be spread to wider group of people or did rdj explicitly ask to keep it here on watmm?
I'm pretty sure as soon as fact/pitchfork do an article on voting for tracks and the possibility of a release that number will jump right up. I don't think most of the 67,000 followers read the comments, let alone being members here.

now you guys are discussing this... be keen for opinions!
i've been discussing this with rich, in terms of being able to see the results versus doing it blind.
having the votes public absolutely will be causing some bias, but having done some stuff in the past similar to this i strongly suspect that this bias will level out over a high enough level of voters. consider the three options people will take: most people are just going to vote for tracks they like regardless, with a smaller percentage voting either for the tracks displaying highest OR lesser loved tracks to give them more love. i believe it will even out, esp given people can come back and change their vote.
having this stuff public too makes the site a TON more interesting... and will encourage more discussion around it, which means more voters. i strongly suspect that having these votes public will actually lead to a 'top 20' which is way more representative of what the fans want.
on the other hand... there's definitely an argument in doing this blind, BUT it makes the site a ton more boring. right now I'm visiting it regularly to see the latest votes (and even adjusting my own votes as I remember killer tracks). i think people will forget about the poll quickly if there's no interesting information coming from it... which will probably lead to less accurate results.
also been throwing around the idea of 'starring' tracks or similar - like there's a secondary rating system for maybe 5 tracks you can use to mark your absolute favourites, and only rich can see that. so a mix of both worlds.
thoughts, guys?
I like the starring idea a lot. Personally, my top five tracks that I voted for I just took my votes off once I saw how heavily preferred they were. Looking down the list I noticed a few of my personal favorites that had just a few votes, immediately moved my votes to those. Maybe the starring would be a better option for that. There's no arguing that cheetah3, pretend anal og, organs, or corny springs are big tunes. I think everyone can agree on that, obviously they are going to get a disproportionate number of votes, they're fully fleshed out 'apfex twinnish' things.
Also, separate thought here- quite a few of these rips sound great, some even in the 128kbs stream. I'm thinking about which would benefit most from remastering; there's a few that I think would really come to life.
-
humm... i voted, but when i log in later i cant see my votes anymore, and have to reconnect with sc again... how am i able to change it then?
EDIT: ah just saw the "save" button... that means my votes arent even saved, not just for me, but also in the poll? will do again then
did anybody else have this issue? this is intentional for technical reasons - and because i wanted saving to be a very specific action - but i can probably make it save the track selection each time you add/remove a track. i had hoped i'd made it obvious enough one would need to click the save button... but if it's a common issue..
Yeah, I had this same problem, lost em. I picked 20 again, which I think were 1/2 different than the first
-
Picking 20 was hard, but seems like the right number. Felt near criminal leaving huge swaths of music out, though. I'm sure I'll feel better over the coming weeks as voting blankets over the list a bit more.
-
are we in drukqs era? if we are, i hope we're here for a while.
Sounds to me like we sort of skipped back and forth over drukqs era, a couple times. Seems like he's saving those tunes, said before he had loads to get thru before that
-
Shiiieet, this one is really funky! Great use of the sample too. Thrilled to get another 303 track, for some reason I always think he hasn't released that many 303-tracks...
Sounds like it could be made yesterday btw, but I'm guessing 1998... Ish.
definitely agree that it sounds like it could've been made yesterday, so fresh sounding.
-
When I see one track posted I can't help but anticipate like 15 more tracks coming, full pavlov dog response over here.
Nightmail is super good though, and that acid sound so fresh
-
I really can't decide whether to refer to him henceforth as Mr. Richard or DJ Ultimate Cunt
-
I dont get the dj latte thing is it an actual reference to someone
He posted this in his description:
MY Dj names this month or either dj latte or dj ultimate cunt
-
I dont get the dj latte thing is it an actual reference to someone
-
I dont know why this is so important, all that this will accomplished is another 250 pages of idiots saying why X track wasnt in there, is this what you want.
Im convinced that some people arent fans of the music, that are fans of being fans of something, and all this bullshit is just fandome diatribe
Listen, if this turns into a properly mastered release I'll be as happy as the next guy. But I would have MUCH PREFERRED user18081979 to just keep uploading tunes, and making them downloadable when he feels like it. *Edit* maybe he still will. Best of both worlds would be nice
-
I know that track voting is the currently in vogue topic, but I've been thinking about my own management of all the SC tracks. As it grows, it's getting a little out of hand. I have been tracking them numbered by upload order, but I'm starting to question that. It seems that upload order doesn't mean that much to RDJ, and having 200+ sequenced tracks isn't ideal. I've started moving some to subfolders (the SAW 1.5 list, and my own made AB6 folder, Bradley Strider, and SAW 2.5 based on the ones he indicated or were obvious). For the SAW 1.5 folder though, I can either use his ordering or the order of upload, but it seems like his ordering of the playlist is better.
What do you guys think?
yes.
-
so do we all just chime in with our top 5 in this thread and they will be counted?
or maybe just wait a day or two for xf to finish the polling system he's been working on.
-
Not that I know what the fuck this means, but description of pretend analog is now first track i did, everything virtual analog.

So he just posted that glock&onion was made after nannou. Windowlicker was released in 1999? So that def helps date that bit

So his whole uchoooob playlist is really difficult to sort through. Many of you folks here seem organised- anyone feel like collating them into some sort of usable playlist? Would be fantasteesh
