    dbpoweramp is the only way to go. i use it for all audio conversion, from 24-bit files to flac->mp3 for mobile devices etc. install the program, install the optional additional file format pack (if you even need it) and go nuts. the full version is a good purchase, due to the fact that its so easy to use a child could do it. you can even eat popcorn and watch which of your processor cores is doing each song. YIPPEE!

    woah im REALLY glad i didn't cave and order from Bleep. seriously fuck bleep

     

    so the vinyl on amazon etc is the same as the pre-ordered one from bleep? is there any reason why i pre-ordered the bleep one when it's almost double the cost of the amazon prime one? or am i just daft

     

    Pre-ordering from bleep gives you the access to the downloads now.

    Don't forget, it also gives you the **EXCLUSIVE** track-by-track artwork to the MP3s. :rhubear2:

     

    plus... I would rather give bleep my money over amazon.

    now with the proper quality copy out i can conclude..

     

    fuck you autechre, 24bits of subpar generic IDM wankfest with a few hints of past brilliance.

    this is infuriatingly disappointing.

    and yeah, you can hear more in the .wavs, but it's not some wholly new experience... say the .m4a w/crossfades was a dirty, neglected automobile. in this rough analogy, the .wavs are the same car, thoroughly detailed, and tuned up. it's still the same fucking car.

    there's a whole other world in the 24-bit versio

    yeah no-one uses 8 extra bits of audio like autechre do.

     

    why buy 16 cookies when you can have 24 cookies for the same price?

    i don't think it's a matter of being pretentious, it's a matter of getting the best sound quality for what you paid for. i have a pair of KRK8's, and i can remember the first time i played the cd version of quaristice over the speakers. it was a night and day difference from the leak. granted, most people listen to music on their $30 pair of headphones over their computer's built-in sound card. in that case, it won't matter what quality the source is. i don't mean to come off sounding like a deranged audiophile, but i strongly believe that autechre sets a precedent for sound quality that is rarely matched in today's music. and i KNOW there has to be more crazies on this board that agree.

     

    edit: also, what panz0r said is right. listen to plyphon at high volume with studio monitors, and it's sort of like upgrading zelda's wooden sword to the master sword.

    in other news, i've stopped listening to oversteps until bleep releases their files. i can't stand this low quality stuff, especially when you can TELL that there's things going on in the background. it's gonna be hard to stay away from known(1), oy!
