  1. Got cd/2xvinyl/1 t-shirt.

Cd & t-shirt came in separate package.

No goodies, download codes or anything so it seems....disappointed in bleep this time round, think I'll pre-order from shops next time, just glad I ordered one from america which will come with poster and download card :D

Wait... what?? How the fuck are you getting a poster??

TH by far the least accessible? Why? I don't see why TH would be far less accessible than the other albums. It doesn't sound more complex. Nor does it sound as the most dark (geogaddi is still darker, imo). People are allowed to like TH without getting all the subliminal/palindrome stuff, right?

It is a somewhat less "coherent" album I'll say. That is compared to MHTRTC and their earlier albums. The tracks don't flow into each other and the overall feel is a bit chaotic, imho. Not saying people can't like it. I just think it would be easier for me to get into BoC via MHTRTC or TCH than TH.

Sorry, but I can't relate to that at all.

The only place where the flow is disrupted is at the start of that palace track. Everything else is one piece of flowing trippyness. The irony is that upon first listen the tracks sounded a bit sparse to me. ( had that feeling back in 98 as well, btw) Especially at the start of the tracks, where the melodies start off almost like simple one finger on the piano melodies. To a certain extent TH came off as surprisingly minimal. Yes, I heard some stuff happening in the background, but apparently I'm one of those people who need to read that interview to become aware of the "subliminal"/palindromic stuff. But this album doesn't overwhelm me one bit with too much detail, or chaos.

It doesn't overwhelm YOU, because you're an alert artistic person. Try playing this album to the type of person who listens to mostly Pop music and I'd say that several of the tracks would have them uncomfortable. More so than Geogaddi, not to say that that album is completely radio friendly either.

I just caved, and bought the art card edition CD, even though I already ordered 3 copies of the vinyl.

I only got 2 copies on vinyl but I did the same thing. I guess it was my own damn fault for buying first and asking questions later, but I was banking on free flacs :( halp I have fwp. But seriously I am pretty poor and had to dig in the couch/return bottles to get this stuff. It's nice to find out the album is totally worth that plus the wait. Blown away still.

I'm trying hard not to listen to it anymore, until I have the real thing. When I heard RFTD on YouTube and compared it to the actual download the difference was rediculous.

  4. I guess how you interpret the track, your current mental state, etc. all plays a role in how we view it. For me, it's really ominous and foreboding.

That's totally fair.. I guess I'm splitting hairs here, because it IS ominous. I just get tired of people thinking all the music I listen to is so "dark" when really it's just interesting. I guess if you want to call it dark, you should.

  5.

The album isn't dark to me. Hope I'm not missing the point, but I doubt it. There's a potential of life being focused on throughout.

Listen to the last track, in the dark, with headphones on. Or, in traffic on the freeway. The depression will hit you like a fucking brick.

I've been listening to this album everyday, late LATE at night on the highway, and I would never describe that track as depressing. I've gone on record here and said that the last track is possibly my favorite on the whole album. Sure it's eerie, but not depressing at ALL. I think "dark" is a terrible descriptor for this style of music in general. It gives the wrong impression.

  6. I stupidly ordered a t-shirt as part of the same order as the vinyl from bleep. The T-Shirt is still in pre-order state, so it looks like I have royally screwed myself over.

Anyone know of any mail-order shops that do RM Next Day delivery option? Cheers

shirts were a pre-order for the album release date. Don't worry, we're all in the same boat.

  7. Telepath gives me chills, and is where the album really takes off for me. Sick Times seals the deal, and was the first track on the album to let me know I'm going to be in love, and Semena Mertvykh?? That track is after my fucking SOUL. Quite possibly my favorite track on the album.

  8. I noticed Boomkat and other outlets are selling both a "artcard" version and a regular CD version - would they really have two versions? (I mean, of course they would, but who would choose the non-artcard version?)

I haven't purchased a CD in a LONG time. I'm gonna buy this though. Thanks for the heads up on the two versions... although I actually normally prefer a jewel case, the artcard version is clearly the way to go. Anyone know if it's limited?

first impression is that i am not keen on all the fadeouts and some of the precision boc drums are missing. i really do not like the drum sound at all in reach for the dead.

that said, this is going to take a long time to wrap my head around. comparing this album to geogaddi is a huge lol for me. we have been listening to geogaddi for 11 years.

there are some real killer tracks on here and i am confident i will be loving it soon, but i am put off by the fadeouts right away.

I was severely annoyed by the fade outs, and suddenly am not bothered by them. Don't know how, because they were really upsetting at first.

    Enjoying it more now?

I'm actually embarrassed how much I'm enjoying it now. It's glorious.

  11. I have noticed that Palace Posy is track C1 on second LP. Anyone thrown back by the abrupt into to the track can enjoy the pause on the vinyl edition^~^

Can you show me where the track position are for each side of the 2xLP? Haven't seen that yet. If you could post a link, I'd appreciate it. I'm trying to plan a detour of Jacquard Causeway, and I'm a little lost.

  12. I'm absolutely in love with this album. For me it's their masterpiece. I wasn't really expecting to feel so strongly right off the bat, I didn't for geogaddi and tch, but immediately this one sucked me in. It's unrealistic to expect everyone to love it, but I wish you could hear it through my ears. It feels so good to love it so much. I'm in awe of what they did with this.

I don't know where to start really, so I'll just mention that I really dig the vox on here. I found myself wondering who the people were and what they wanted and it really got to me. Like for a few seconds I forgot they were actually just samples they made and weren't really some lost transmissions they dug up in the desert.

I'm happy for you, and everyone else that likes this album. I think being spoon fed bits and pieces of it and being teased for weeks may have something to do with my troubles with it. I'm gonna try again this weekend.

These tracks are ALL too short, and the editing is horrible. It almost makes their creativity work against them, with the average track length at about 3 1/2 minutes!! Why aren't these tracks given time to develop and sink in? They're great tracks otherwise. Oh well, I guess I'm just fucked.

I thought it flowed beautifully, although there was one jarring transition, can't remember where though.

I was so in love with it, despite this. Maybe I just played it one too many times last night... I'm gonna keep an open mind, and hope for the best. It's just frustrating, when you're REALLY into a track, and the volume just fades out....... and... wtf happened?? I was LISTENING TO THAT!!!!!

Honestly, I was worried about the track lengths at first, but after last night, I didn't even notice. I know what you mean though, some tracks did kind of finish when I didn't expect them to, but that isn't a bad thing in terms of how the tracks are listened (i.e. on the album), I guess it might be a bigger problem if you wanted individual tracks but who would want that?

I don't know man. Like I said, I may have just burned out last night on the 5th listen. In trying to keep an open mind, I'll focus on the fact that it's a whole album, but I really would have loved more tracks around the 6 or 7 minute mark.

This record is definitely better than TCH (and I loved that), that's all I can really say right now. I hope you get over that hill, would be a shame if you didn't, there's a lot to like here.

    I know, and thank you.
