Yes, I think it was my favorite from 2010 but I can't listen to it anymore without getting a headache. Someone on the thread said it was too loud and now I kind of agree. I might be too old for this ultra manic and scary over the top psychotic IDM.
Or not!
Maybe it's like Autechre and I will fall in love again with it next month.

Yeah, and reading classics for the sake of it gets boring pretty quickly if you don't have a personal interest in them. I would approach it as if looking for new music to listen to, you probably need to find an equivalent Autechre or Basic Channel before finding your way into the forest.. Oh and get a survey from a reputed writer not the boring mainstream ones. I had good luck with an intro by Mario Vargas Llosa on novels and a book by a French guy I found by accident on the library which got me into Artaud, Michaux, Ionesco, Beckett and all sorts of cool modern stuff. It is too bad I can't remember the title! I should probably go back to the library to read it again.

I only saw the Umberto Eco movie so I can't comment on him, I guess it was OK (?).
If you like Kafka and you are posting on an IDM forum I'm sure you are going to love Borges. I would go for Ficciones (or El Aleph) which are collections of his short stories. The stuff is very cool to daydream about because the guy made science fiction out of philosophy, theology and all kinds of wacky theories / literature. I would also recommend A Movable Feast from Hemingway, it's an autobiography about the time when he was young, poor and hanging out in Paris with all sorts of interesting people. It is a nice guide on how to live a good life.

These miniatures are getting more Raster Noton & IDM by the minute but the non-sketch Paralell World is fantastic, the Laurel Halo remix is awesome too. Guys you have to check Gerswhin / Harrier Attk and the Panda Bear remix from earlier this year, I kind of think that this Actress guy is the most exciting thing going on in electronic music today. And he is just starting!

Just finished this, I had much fun with it and I never thought I would feel such cravings for reading the major Shakespeare plays at this point in my life (never had to in high school)
Starting with this, the opening is very cool
And struggling with this one, I might be too depressed to deal with so much gloom right now

I gave up after a few pages Levi-Strauss (didn't actually care) and one third of Theodor Adorno's Minima Moralia (too depressing). Managed to read a couple of David Foster Wallace things online. A great interview, an essay on the ethics of eating lobster which is seriously awesome, and one article about a luxury cruise that was funny but unpleasant as it is contemptuous, neurotic and his ironic resignation reminds me of my worst tendencies. It's kind of a guide on how NOT to live.
A bit ashamed of this but read three introductions. On Theodor Adorno, Ludwig Wittgenstein and Karl Marx's Capital (this one on comic book form lol) loved all of them. I have zero training in philosophy but I really want to know about the stuff without getting a headache and feeling stupid that I don't understand what is going on.
I saw this guy giving a lecture to an empty room on Film Socialisme and while this is intended to be read by teenagers it has lots of cool challenging things to daydream about. Argues that modern ethics are wicked and corrupted, gives you tools to recognize and fight evil, makes the case for revolution I guess but don't quite understand how it is supposed to win if it refuses to conquer and become power itself.
