Sketching on a laptop

I enjoy sketching on paper and I recently got Photoshop and some other software. I'm wondering, is it easy to adapt to drawing with a mouse? I'm trying it out now and it is kind of weird... also anyone know of any good tutorials?

actually i was curious the other days about those tablet/pen hardware for drawing... are those good? expensive? how do you erase?

yes, no, and with the eraser. If you want to draw on the computer tablets are the only way to go. You can get a decently sized one (bigger is better) for less than $100. For fancy (and sometimes necessary) features like pen angle & rotation or higher ranges of sensitivity youll pay extra.

so , if you touch the pen lightly do you see where you are on screen?

You can see where you are on the screen without touching the surface with your pen. I have one of those Wacom Graphire's lying around. (I think they rebranded that to "Bamboo") It should be a good first model, and it'll do for sketching. Later on you might want to grab an Intuos.

just wait for the ASUS Eee pad. 12" screen with wacom digitizer technology built in. No doubt it will also utilise flash drive tech. instant boot up and no moving part harddisk.
