At once urgently compelling and lushly reflective, 'With Endless Fire' is yet another towering example of this fella's rich talents, combining trace elements of blown-out blues with shoegaze and folk to find a prickly, bruised and tender sort of isolated soul which so many others would nearly kill for. Like his contemporary, Liz Harris aka Grouper, he's mastered the art of clouded songcraft, singing distorted, glossolalic hymns to unknown spirits and lovers which, unless you require a stone mason to stir your heart, will surely bury themselves deep inside anyone with the ability to empathise with his intentions and emotions.
