I'm still none the wiser what hauntology is.
-
Yeah some great tips here. Check out Scarfolk Council for a humourous take on hauntology https://scarfolk.blogspot.co.uk
Will hauntology progress into 80s I wonder, or is synth/retrowave that era's iteration of it?

Class lad!
-
lol, you know what I meant silly!
-
Some dude just gave me a Creme Ggg.
-
Lol. The grey telephone in the background looks like some sort of proto-MPC or obscure '80s plasticky drum machine.
That'd be cool, man. A sampler where one has to record audio with a telephone receiver. Akai PhonePC 9000
You mean like THIS?

I recognise that last one! Class. Reminds me of the start of Aliens where they find Ripley.

Daniel Kitson.

Best news all week.

Lovely. Lolled at the toothbrush next to the rollie filters.

@westhead, I have a pack of your toy samples that im still yet to use....amazing if I remember.

Cheers! I used them on all of my forthcoming album and they've given the whole thing a unique sound. Definitely heading more towards making my own samples - with the help of these, they only have mono mic inputs though which is a pain, and no pitch control!
-
I badly want that Tascam tape recorder - purely for the fact it has a speed/pitch knob. I actually had a dream last night that I fucked my mates off, because they wouldn't sell me their pitch shifting cassette recorders.
-
My basic studio also doubles as a play room - got some great toy samples.

Liking the 3 bar fire, handy footstool.

Enjoying Daniel Clowes' new one, Patience. Looking forward to the inevitable film.

Gripped by Making a Murderer, the blatant corruption is a real eye opener. I can't sleep though because I'm incandescent with rage at the injustice of it all.
Also, I love disgraced DA Ken Kratz's shitty 'Better Call Saul' website http://www.kratzlawfirm.com

Anyone got that tiler's number?

Forest, in complete solitude - for a month, then come back and write a big blog post and a Facebook gallery about how awesome it was,

Heh that's cool, I've had a Baltic Burger here....honestly I'm a picky eater, so took one bite and was nope.avi, and I got told off for eating my sandwiches from home there (despite being told by my employer it was cool to eat my lunch in the bar)
You going to the Luke Vibert gig at the Kazimier? I think I missed out on tix...
I'd like to, but to be honest I don't think I'll be able to get out - I'm putting my own night on tonight at the well space, so that's my bi monthly night out pass spent, boooo.
Hmmm might show up to this.... is there an entry fee?
Nope, it's all free - all decent local producers playing live sets too, should be a good night. Come along and say hi - I'll be the one looking stressed while everyone else is (hopefully) having a good time.
I'll be the one wearing a doge shirt, and hipster beanie
Cool, you should be easy to spot amidst the sea of ladies.

I think one of the main attractions is a sense of familiarity - I agree with the comparisons to vaporwave/synthwave, they're a distorted alternative to something that already happened. I think Ghostbox crystallised this perfectly with their releases and whole aesthetic, but it goes back before then - to BoC/70s TV and even Beatles with Sgt Pepper referencing victorian brass bands.
