listening to 'left leg out' at the DMZ raves in brixton last year was amazing.... just when you are getting used to all the dubstep riddims they stop and start playing this weird morse code sound... a signal.. which slowly builds up into a booming bass. then after that tune they play some congo patterns. i love dmz.
in fact

I just bought a crapload of digital mystikz and loefah 12"s.
-
daaaark. the bass sounds like a horrible robot. from the tectonic plates compilation, which is excellent. the DMZ track on it alone is worth the entry price.
-
hahahah this is awesome
i have new neighbours as of last monday (house next door to me is two flats)
they're having a party. and i can hear teh dubstep comin through the wall!
they seem to like loefah and dmz.... dark and gloomy shiz
hmmmm shall i have a bass competition with em?

onward and upward toward the front page!
it really is a good article at this point; criticism welcomed.
-
benny ill, kode9, and the culprit - fat larry's skank
-
the bug featuring flowdan - jah war (loefah remix)
lol i love this, loefah charges through the original grimey track like a bull in a china shop firing bass lazer beams and ak47 snares everywhere. it's like listening to dmz beating up mia.
also it's a three-minute pop song!
-
yeah the bass clef stuff is good, way less sludgy than say loefah (although sludgy has its merits, don't get me wrong!) and proper 2stepish almost.
check out this lovely footage of shackleton live in rooted records, brizzle.
i loled at the skinny white beardstroking sausagefestness, and want a proper release of the second track he plays(undoubtedly a shackleton whitelabel) really bad.

COKI!
top fucking track, it's funny how the early digital mystikz shit is sooooo dark, and they have got more and more rootsier over time.
-
also we be fussin an a fightin for FA status on wiki; a lot of work in the last week: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dubstep

two skankers
digital mystikz - anti war dub skanky rasta dub
massive music - find my way (kode9 remix) skanky 8bit stepper

god i love that jamie woon remix
LOL! A DUBSTEP CATegory on wikipedia.
i made a dubstep category.
if you like dubstep and edit wiki, there's loads of work to be done. like someone make a vexd article ffs.
and list of dubstep artists is just awful too.
-
jamie woon - wayfaring stranger (burial mix)
almost the polar opposite; lovely soulful garagey fuzzy stuff; typical burial sound but that's no bad thing at all.
-
toasty - the knowledge (vexd remix)
pure evil. huge drops, with a weird metallic almost autechrey bass.
-
interesting the directory is called confileid
possibly the origin of the album title, mangled ae-style?

son, you need to calm down.

Was listening to this at work today and thought "Fuck me this is brilliant", there isn't a weak track on this release. Pencha is amazing especially.
Also, the case says 'Mechanically Reclaimed by Autechre', I'm curious, does this mean the tracks are remixes of earlier stuff? Specifically Tilapia which has that Cichli sounding synth.
Also, talk about how wicked this EP is.
the album is a quasi remix album based on the track Chichli from Chiastic Slide.
although to my ears it sounds like totally new work just like most of Ae's remix work.
i love the way ae will fuck about with source material like this, almost like a jazz musician would. although i can hear very little source material in there it sorta warms my electronic music wang to know that it is in there somewhere.

i'm actually listening to confield for the first time in aaaages at the moiment, and i dunno if it's the change in my musical tastes in the interim or wha, but it's a lot more melodic than i remember it being.
