Having finished Umberto Eco's Foucault's Pendulum, I want to retract my previous negative statements about the book. Yes, not much happened and stuff, but I was completely oblivious to his point. Woosh, over the top of my head. While reading, I thought of selling it after I finished it. But now I'll think I just keep it nicely on my bookshelf. Might pick it up again sometime.

I haven't listened to metal for some years. Last thing I was into was Opeth, not sure how I feel about them anymore. But not too long ago, I stumbled upon Drudkh. And I fucking love them. I also discovered Walknut. Fuck yeah. Also this band called Ygg: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6R0M5hRynpA I also like some Austere: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRsofblEK3A (starting from the part the part where it kicks off at 2:30.. i also like those distant howlings) Also stumbled upon Negura Bunget. Not bad, but I'm having doubts. I also like Wolves In The Throne Room, but it seems you can't say that or even mention them because of some h-word that people like to throw around. So I'm looking for bands that sounds similair. Last.fm tags these bands as "atmospheric black metal" but that leads to stuff like Alcest. Yikes. If you don't know any, you can just recommend me any good black metal or whatever. (i haven't checked the thread out much because of youtube clusterfucks (to which i may have contributed to)) I'm appreciating metal again, wooh! I also would like to say that I distance myself from any retarded views/philosophies some of these bands may have it's just music bro

if you really have only listened to Satie and Part and know virtually nothing else, I recommend you to quickly listen to the old classics like The 4 Seasons by Vivaldi some tunes can give me the cringe because of overusage in commercials and popular media, but Summer and Winter .... damn also check out Edvard Grieg's Peer Gynt Suite... some great tunes there that you've probably once heard before and Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor (BWV 595) and his Cello Suites.. all of them!

now that you mention it Gorecki - Symphony No. 3 (Symphony of Sorrowful Songs) check it, now most popular Symphony of recent times, and for a damn good reason

Check out some Shostakovich, I love his String Quartet No. 8 in C minor op. 110 second movement: Currently, I'm in love with Alfred Schnitte 2nd part of his Piano Quintet, but I recommend the whole of course Also check out his Concerto For Piano & Strings, my favourite And his String Quartets performed by the Kronos Quartet are also interesting. They also translated a Schnittke vocal composition to strings, with a beautiful result. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B85LNyuc7fI

just let him keep bumping up his own threads, then he'll be happy and don't talk so negative to him, or he'll get all witty and say "same to you" or "piss off" or "my contributions to this message board greatly excel yours"
