There's good stuff in general on Farbwechsel, ambient leaning stuff, techno and more. All a little bit wonky.
Some of the earlier releases on Lobster Theremin would probably scratch that itch for you too.

Could anyone recommend me some good, hazy, distant, lofi deep house you'd play while driving through a city at nighttime?

more french style
I really like Jordi Savall's work for both Colombe and Marais., Savall runs a great label too. This Marais piece was in Tous les Matins du Monde, great film.

Novi_sad has been around for a minute! Curious to check this one out.
Really enjoying this. Picked up a copy of the split he did with Francisco Lopez, I'll be digging into the other albums for sure.

Never heard of Halsey before. First clip sounded 'interesting', will check out because of the Trent/Atticus production. Intriguing.
However, her vocal style is way too generic, and grating, for my ears.

I'm not familiar Novi_sad, but today sees the release of his first album for Raster. Already loving this. Field recordings intermingle with diaphanous tones, sometimes punctuated by moments of noise. Oceania starts off the album with processed field recordings, soon delivers a gut punch, before the relaxing again. One of those tracks that will give you a jolt if you've got your music on shuffle.
I've been very impressed with the direction Raster has taken since the dissolution of Raster-Noton.
QuoteIn Ancient Greek Mythology, Zeus was the king of the Olympian Gods and the supreme deity. Zeus was the God of the sky, lightning, thunder (Κεραυνóς / ΚΕΡΑΥΝΟΣ), law, order, and justice. The Cyclopes were three, orb-eyed, immortal giants who forged the thunderbolts of Zeus. The lawless Titans, encouraged by Gaia (Γαῖα / Γη / Εarth), tried to wrestle control of the world from the Olympian Gods in a ten-year battle known as the Titanomachy. The Titans were the brothers and sisters of Cronus and it was only through the help of the Cyclopes (who made Zeus his thunderbolts) and the hundred-handed giants or Hecatoncheires (Briareos, Cottus and Gyges) that Zeus was finally able to imprison the Titans in Tartarus, the deepest part of the Underworld. Making himself ruler of the skies, Zeus then gave dominion over the seas to Poseidon and of the Underworld to Hades.
KEΡΑΥΝΟΣ was one of the most powerful symbols in Ancient Greece – if not the most powerful. As contemporary science proved, the thunders that dominated the earth before the creation of life gave birth to the primordial substances by enhancing the production of nitrogen and thus amino acids which are essential for the production of proteins and life. In numerous civilisations they believed that the overlord of thunder was a deity.
In Celtic mythology, Taranis was the God of thunder. In Slavic mythology it was Perun and in Scandinavian it was Thor. In India, the God of thunder was Indra and in Finland it was Ukko. In China, Lei Gong was worshipped as the deity of thunders and in Rome the people who died because of a thunder were considered as blessed. Inkas believed that thunder was the son of the sun and the moon and in Christianity thunder is the voice of God.The music of » ΚΕΡΑΥΝΟΣ « was composed by using environmental sounds and field recordings from the five continents:
OCEANIA | Tarkine Rainforest
ASIA | Okinawa
EUROPE | Ancient Olympia and Iceland
AFRICA | Uganda, Botswana and Namibia
AMERICA | Amazon Rainforest and Niagara Falls
» ΚΕΡΑΥΝΟΣ « will be released on occasion of our 25th anniversary in 2021 -
Second album from Anika dropped last week. I only came across her work a few months back when I picked up the Exploded View albums.
Beak> produced her first album, which has a Broadcast flavour. This has strong Nico vibes like all of her work, and some parallels with Carla Dal Forno.

I've been funding some board games on Kickstarter, here's some I've already got:
In progress/waiting to receive:
I'm also a Battletech and RPG geek - my favourite RPG is Paranoia.
That's a lot of Kickstarters backed. Man, Car Wars is a blast from the past. All I can remember was that it took ages to set up, and when I tried to take a corner, my car crashed and exploded.
Started playing Vampire The Eternal Struggle card game, managed a few sessions over the last few months.
I've never played Paranoia, most of my group have played it and they speak highly of it.
I tend to play a lot of indie RPGs - usually PbtA based - though any system that is more narrative/character focused will usually get my attention. Running a game this evening, first time GMing in quite a while, though I do prefer it to being a player.

Start with the Paradise Valley single. It's 2 songs and gives you a pretty good idea of Grouper's sound. If you like it, go on to Ruins and the other albums.
I'd agree with that, I'd add the Water People single too.
Paradise Valley
, Headache is probably my favourite track from her catalogue. She Loves Me That Way is a close second from A I A : Alien Observer.

'Holding' always just kills me.
Some tracks are just on the verging of being crushing, but it never takes me the fully. Does make me want to pack my bags and go a walking.

New Grouper album on the way this October. Just one preview track up at the moment.
I've been listening to Grouper a lot recently, A I A : Alien Observer and Ruins in particular, so this news is a welcome.

Nobody would even care if I died. That's how it is ... I wish I had never been born!
Having dealt with a long term 'attraction' to the wisdom of Silenus, I can empathise.
However, and more importantly, I'd care.

I know a lot of focus on Coil is on the late 90's period, but outside of England's Hidden Reverse I can't recall many interviews/details on Thrower's time with the band. That was a nice interview.

Bill Hunt of The Digital Bits has seen the first 10 minutes, and he seems over excited.
Nice read. However, I want to see those first 10 minutes now, even if filmed on a potato. Which I'd regret, but I'd still do it. Long live the fighters!

If Feyd...lovely Feyd isn't in this part, I wonder what else will be shifted/omitted? Villeneuve paces his films well, so will be interesting to see what he's done.

We'll have to wait a decade or two for Chalamet to look all growns up enough to do a Dune Messiah, not that I think we'll get Book Two Muad'Dib conclusion.

The classic 1980s Call of Cthulhu tabletop RPG game being remastered on Kickstarter:
Wow, blast from the past. A rite of passage for any self-respecting nerd. I've played these indie TTRPGs that offer a new and streamlined take on Lovecraft themed stories. Both worth checking out.

I'm worried Dune is going to be a boring disaster, I can feel it in my bones.
Villeneuve's has had a great track record (IMO) doesn't mean this couldn't fall flat, but I think he'll nail Dune. I came to Arrival late, and have been kicking myself for missing it at the cinema. He's got a great eye for Sci-Fi.

My expectations were low for Prometheus, but not low enough. Jesus, that was a terrible experience.

Yeah, something like that, a 30/40 day window before it's off to streaming.

This sounds interesting. Premiered at Cannes last week, not general release date yet.

Any suggestions about things I shouldn't miss while in Paris next week?

Aye.
Even with all tourists, the Louvre is worth a visit. Maybe with COVID restrictions/tourist numbers, you'll have a bit more space and time with some of the key attractions?
Sacre Coeur is beautiful, even if only chilling with the view, it's just nice to hang out up there when the weather permits.
Food. Even if it's just finding a good bakery, and getting yourself a baguette and taking a stroll... the bakeries are to die for. Food. Paris is relatively small, I think it's a good city for strolling, and soaking up the ambience.
