  1. Still yes to a new album! I'd maybe even bet on 2024. Some Spring optimism is kicking in.

    A few highlights!

    • 2022-06-29: MDG: "A new album is on its way."
      • No further details, but good to know they will be back. Lots of people were sure TH was their swan song.
    • 2023-04-20: Funny Bleep newsletter: "No, we don't know when the new BoC album is coming", and "Maybe create a hexagonal altar and pray for their return."
    • 2023-07-25: @boctransmission on Threads (part of Instagram) posts "Welcome to the official BOC Threads. Follow here for future news & announcements etc."
    • 2023-10-13: @MikeSandison posts a link to their Threads account, saying "Offocial BOC Threads"
    • 2024-01-18: The official handle on Twitter is now @boardsofcanada.
      • They managed to migrate the content from @boctransmission which is still under their control, but now only shows a link to the official regained account in their bio.
    • 2024-02-11: The official Boards of Canada Facebook channel posts a link to their Instagram account.
    • 2024-02-12: The official Boards of Canada Facebook, Instagram, and Threads accounts now have a verification checkmark.

There seems to be a lot of emphasis on Instagram and Threads. The last months they've also been adding fan video posts on their Instagram account. The most recent one was added 16th of March. There's 12 posts in total now.

    Who else is ready?

If BOC release a full-length before 31 December 2023... I will be VERY surprised (and happy)

Hell, ANYTHING would be nice (but please no more remixes of sub-par bands tracks)

Why the emphasis on VERY? Are you implying you know there won’t be a 2023 LP based on some bird’s whisper?

    Sub-par bands. Ouch.

Need more sonic merchandise to sink our teeth into. I hardly play them at all for quite a few years now. That will spin 180 degrees with a blink of an eye as soon as new stuff is released. Plus I learned years ago the tactic in not overplaying records. So it’s better to rest them anyway. In my humble opinion.

Same here. My LastFM stats show this. Easy on the BoC the last couple of years. But I'm ready to dive into it all again when the moment comes.

I’m pissed it’s Saturday. Is this a one way conversation?

No. You just need to give it a bit longer.

In other news. Warp seems to have finally acquired the rights to Hi Scores. WARPDD367 <-- The first BoC related CAT# in a decade. ?

I guess Warp will announce it pretty soon now on their socials. Maybe it's only about Hi Scores, or maybe it's an opportunity to go full out. ?

For me the whole BOC thing has gone way past its sell by date. Even a decade ago they were teasing live events. Why? Is this how you actually think you should think you should treat your fans? Name another band that continuously make suggestions that never materialises? It's shoddy imo. Tempt them with BOC sets, EPs, gigs. Yet nothing ever fucking happens.

Maybe they aren't as cool and as great as you think they are. Maybe they actually have cult like tendencies themselves. Because that's what they pretty much have instigated.

I've even witnessed pure Stockholm Syndrome on twoism. But remember they don't owe us anything. I seriously hope a lot of twoism don't get to the end of their days realising they spent a huge subordinate amount of their life thinking about all the things they never received from their favourite band. Evidence suggests that's highly likely what will happen.

    So now prove me wrong.

Maybe they don’t care about making music so much nowadays, or at least of a quality that’s good enough for their fan base and their own high standards. If you think in nearly 20 years they have just produced Tomorrows Harvest that surely tells you something isn’t what it use to be. Also, I guess unlike their label mates, music isn’t their main cash flow so no pressure for new music. I don’t believe they have multiple albums of classic material just gathering dust.

Well I guess the new album is coming soon. I hope it’s really good. No one can deny their talent. All their albums, depending on personal mood, are imo great to classic. And it would be a good thing to discuss new BOC tracks than just all the insane, troll, funny gibberish that we’ve done for the last decade. I wonder what’s on the horizon? maybe a double album? Could be. One thing, I bet it won’t be a disappointment.

Well, that escalated quickly. ? I welcome you on the positive Twoism side. I feel good about 2023.

‘On the way’ could be a few more years though, in BOC Time…

Prior to this message the rumblings were more in the lines of “the brothers are still working on new material”. Which is also a great thing to read.
But now the tone changed to something very much more definite: “an album is on its way”. I hope you can see the difference.

  7. Substances are NOT needed to enjoy, but rather add another dimension. You get to experience the music differently. Is all, yo. And I know: drugs r bad, m'kay.

  8. Substances are indeed used to enrich the music even more. Great music will be better. It's an extra interesting layer/dimension.

Recently I listened this after a night of stimulants. Trust me, this was an epic experience. This live set sounds like a mellow alien autechre. Really good.

Also try doing MD once with a girl on a cosy evening, on a coach with some nice music in the background. Enjoy the love trip. :)

  9. Not posted a lot in this thread, but what an epic journey this has been! It almost tops the Tomorrow's Harvest viral campaign. ;)

Oh how I'd wish Boards of Canada would do something similar with their archive... a man can dream?

PS: Hi Rich! I love your tunes! Especially Ibiza Spliff, boccy vibes! ;)
