  1. one time in my 20s my friend's dad was dating this girl who was like our age, an aspiring concert violinist, and we were on his fancy sailboat getting lushly wasted and she was saying how electronic music isn't "real" music. my friend was arguing with her about this but I could sense he was holding back for his dad's sake so it was really awkward and after a while we all sat in silence. the next day at breakfast there was some classical music playing and my friend's dad began discussing the music with his girlfriend. and my friend goes "I don't hear anything." his dad’s girlfriend found this hard to believe and was like "how do you not hear this?" and he looks at me and asks if i can hear it. I said yes of course. then he asks me to describe it for him and I instantly knew what he was up to so I said, "well, there are some violins going..." and he goes "ah, I see the problem. violin music is not real music." fucking pwn. anyway, I have no idea how it's spelled but her name was pronounced "ne-dezh" so imo this story perfectly captures the spirit of nodezsh.

    lol

  2. I think a lot of their stuff is them being nostalgic

Maybe it's their nostalgia for old school hip hop or something, the first track on Envane to me sounds like that, especially when the keyboard tune comes in.

    1) How did you do that great repeating delay feedback sound in Drane where is sounds like the delay time is being changed a lot?

    2) LP5 sounds really clean and crisp (for want of a better word) compared to anything that came before it, was this your first major move to Max/MSP and away from outboard synths / effects?

    3) Who is Jacobean?

    1 not telling

    2 no

    3 sorry?

    Jacobean from Mask 500: http://www.discogs.com/Various-MASK-500/release/19800

now u have me playing the Dranes back to back really loud.

    Including Drane3?

Sean said it has lush synths.

  4.

I've always had ideas for music in my head but never tried to make any tracks, what are one or two things I would need to start making tracks?

Even just one thing or program.

Btw, loving Exai and L Event ;)

ableton is quick to learn if you want to do looping stuff

logic is better for more complex arrangements, also quick to learn

or any daw to be honest they all steal each others' features eventually

    Thanks ;)

  5. Well I like osla the best so pffffffffffffff.

It's like being in a drifting space station with malfunctioning computers, very eerie.

Anyone else think the sounds in these tracks are the best they've ever done?

All the ambience and noises in these tracks are even better than the Exai ones, these pair are getting better with age.
