The cheetaht7b from zane whoever's stream was real lush and stereo-y, however the stream of the same track from the bleep stream is nearly mono, which honestly is ruining it a bit for me. It definitely sounds better in stereo, and that's kinda the point of the track, imho, to envelope you. I'm not sure if this is just an issue on my end. And if it is really basically mono we still haven't heard the damn EP for what it's worth.

I should clarify that it isn't 100% mono, like 7b sounds like ther is a bit of stereo in it, but.. that could just be an illusion since I've mostly heard it in stereo.

If you'd actually pre-ordered cheetah, you could download a lossless version of 7b. Fake richard.

It sounds way better than the sc version. Lovely stuff. And basically an ode to Larry Heard/Mr Fingers.

I haven't downloaded them, I preordered it from bleep earlier today to listen to the stream and didn't see the DLs. I basically just jumped on the stream. The bleep stream sounds mono. Still. This is an issue with all the tracks in the stream and we have to wait another week to hear it in its stereo goodness. I mentioned 7b was mono as well in the stream because I was comparing the two.

    TL;DR the stream sucks.

What is a fake richard? IF you're referring to me then I am very confused.

its like tape-quality for those who couldn't snag one

    So, this real?

No, it's not. I've heard amazon previews and every track sounds like analordish chilly AFX jam. This is going to be a beautiful release, trust me.

And this track? Made by some wanker having no clue about amazon previews and trying to fool people.

doesn't sound like any of the previews, but i kinda like it and would like to know who did it.

dude on reddit who heard the ep in full said this definitely wasn't on there. And it doesn't sound like the gawd anyways.

    Pretty cool troll track tho.

    sounds like Venetian Snares

  3. So awesome the Cheetah ep is happening.

The beautiful thing about Aphex is he never went away, longest breaks were between Druqks and Analord, then Tuss to Caustic Window, but he was also touring during those years.

Big respect and my favorite current musician by a mile.

  4. So excited for this, and happy it came out of the soundcloud dump, something we could see germinate from an idea in his comments on there. To be honest I was more hyped about other releases hinted at like SAW 1 rerelease, mfm, sosw2, but going back and listening to the cheetah tracks I'm glad he went with this one, those tracks are really lovely and I'm glad he decided for his next release to be something in a new direction instead of a rerelease (although that would be welcome too).

  5. I just moved without a forwarding address, surely I was one of the recipients of this mailer :()

Really excited about the next installment!!!!!!!!!!!

I like that we keep getting these glimpses into some of his production tools of older stuff. Supercollider, whatever tracker he mentioned, etc.

I'd like to see his philosophy on music making. I remember he said he wanted to mostly talk about his philosophy that in that SUPER LONG interview, then proceeded to literally JUST talk about gear  . He mostly talks about gear, which is mostly interchangeable and not particularly interesting... well mostly since I only occasionally use hardware.

    Aphex philosophy on music making...

well I remember at one point he said that 'screwing around' was no less valid than any other track, and I THINK he said once that he would make things without thinking about it. He said about Satie he never wasted any notes, so he recognizes economy in composition. In syrobonkers he said his favorite artists didn't consider themselves artists and he said many times don't talk about the thing you are going to do before you do it because it detracts from it's energy [and leaves you open to look like a fool if it doesn't happen]. In a way maybe that's his way to say don't trust what he says about upcoming releases, because he doesn't agree with talking about things before they happen...

all the old tracks on sc are getting approximately -5 love

Well, BEFORE SC tons of them were getting -100 love being stuck on dusty old DAT tapes

no, I mean the released ones that are up on sc now... no comments, few plays. I understand it's subscription and already released and owned by people but it's just this stark contrast

Don't get me wrong, BIG BIG love for all those vault tapes!
