  1. This Is England is great, though. and that was 2006, aside from the TV sequels he hasn't gone back to that stuff.

eh oop Usagi, things are about to get abrasive ;)

This Is England is quality, but i found with that cast that they would goof around n whatnot & Shane M was happy enough to "document" this as performance. Or maybe its just that Dead Man's Shoes was so full on that everything afterwards could seem "less"....

Have you seen A Room For Romeo Brass, 24 7, or Small Time? The former is very much like Dead Man's Shoes, w/Paddy C playing the weirdo oddball who latches onto the two kids as some bizarre older friend. Funny as fuck too in places....."oh you're gonna go darkside on me are ya.....go on then, go fookin darkside....."

Factoid - my mate went to school w/Vicky McClure

  2. thats the 1 with Olivia whatsherface & Peter Mullen in isnt it......google confirms......yes i have Hog, bleak & super intense with that doughy rat faced cunt as her abusive hubby. Hard to believe that was a directorial debut ffs.

Its like they took all the best elements of Ken Loach & Mike Leigh & boiled them down to their essential parts with added psychopaths & danger. You're always pulling for Olivia C in that filem and it pulls you all over the place with her harrowing treatment. Totally forgot about it too, cheers bwlad.

  3. love getting drunk and stoned, but sometimes it can go wrong like 6month's ago

started gaming while drinking and smoking, then our friends came over, again drinking and smoking with my ass in the couch all day

i was pretty shitfaced, but not that more then usual and when they left, me and the wife checked a movie but both falll asleep in the living room.

after 2 hours i wake up baked beyond belief and i have to shit so badly but i almost can't move a muscle so i have to crawl on knees and hands to the toilet almost passing out with a turtle sticking out me bum

i barely make it there but i don't have the strenght to pull myself on the seat and i'm thinking " just do it, shit your pants, there is no other way "

somehow i made it up there and the pooping caused even more blood and oxygen from my brain to move to my sphincter, trying to make it work

but i did it, i finnished the hardest shit in my life, no way i could reach the toilet paper, i'm exausted and i'm sweating like hell, blacking out

i crash myself down on the rug and think " this is it i'm gonna die here like a dogg, you did it Ivan, your chick is gonna find you here death in the morning with your unwiped naked poop ass on the expensive pee rug we ordered on internet "

luckely i started to feel a bit better after like 15minutes, the cold floor feels good, i get my shit together and wake up my wife who told me i looked like a corpse

fucking hell, only happened like 4 times in my life that i can't move from the ganja and i have to take the shit of death

    we live & learn

  4. there's a cracking documentary-piece about Chet Baker called "Let's Get Lost", which is equal parts music maestro cataloging and equal parts bleak dark take of how someone who pretty much had it all slid into decades of junk abuse. What a voice though, melancholic, sweet-toned,,,,,,

saw Jerry Mulligan @ Brecon Jazz in the summer of 1991 w/my old man. Never seen my dad so entranced by anything, it was superb though. Mulligan on sax and just a bass/drums accompaniment, all with 1/2min solo licks by all 3 at various stages across 2hrs and the man musta been well into his 60's.

  5. Chris Watson's gear is fail-safe soundscape brilliance. Perfect for blending with more melodic compositions. Really liked El Tren Fantasma for the 2 outstanding pieces El Divisadero & El Tajin.

One record that always hit the spot was Skylab's "Skylab#1", specifically for the tune "Next" (the footsteps one):

Also, just about everything that ever came out on the EM:T label, Nottingham's finest. Note to self - go back through this thread meticulously when it isnt so fuckin late

  6. 12-14% is a heavy concoction, double the depressant value by rounding it off with a few pulls of green and it can be a 1-way ticket to caucasian sensation nation

1 of my oldest friends can bosh cider after cider after cider and rinse through any number of joints, but i think the cells upstairs that would normally "react" to this festival of over-indulgence just arent there anymore

  7. Britain used to be a much more hash-centric country, until good resin (draw) became almost impossible to find (late 90's). The baccy-habit of mixing is a big hangover from that culture. Dont get me wrong, some resins are a thing of beauty, its just access to them isnt what it used to be. Cant remember the last time i got good clean *charas.

The growth of hydro-shops, imports from Holland & all the strains from the US in recent years have def changed things for the better, and, with vaporizers you can get proper roasted in a way that wont prompt quite so many tumours.

    *mmmmmmm,,,,,,,charas,,,,,,,,mmmmmmmmmm,,,,,,dribble,,,,,,,*

  8. I love weed & consider it a borderline communion-sacrament (<--- sad but true)

If i need to "think" my way through certain life stresses, other people's bs, family dramas, psycho-ex's, whateverthefuck, i *used to roll 2 pure joints of bud (1 skin/rizla), get in the car and go for a looooong walk in the mountains. By the time that walk's finished the answers i was looking for will have come into much clearer focus.

Also found it helped me focus when writing academic papers.....in so much as i would pour a bunch of words out while sostooooooned, but then come back & edit those pieces with a clear head the following day. So far, so good.

If you abuse it, it'll abuse you back, horrendously & its certainly not for everyone. If you wake up to cannabis everyday then you're like an alcoholic, you have to let your mind breath especially at the beginning of the day. I find it much better to unwind at the end of the day with a pinch or 2 of good green, than drinking alcohol, as alcohol has been a much darker influence among certain friends (rabid alcoholics). Its also proven a useful/interesting addition with certain shall we say "kinkier" shags.....but thats another story entirely.....

  9. could anyone recommend anything similar to Blood Meridian or The Man in the High Castle?

bought a copy of Dune for about 50p from Cardiff market earlier,,,,,,but the above titles have been a huge influence to the point that writing fiction has become almost impossible due their scarily high standards

  10. thought Kreator had it going on for a couple of albums in the mid-late 80's, up to about Terrible Certainty, early Sepultura too......the tragedy is I swapped most of my olde metal/thrash/cross-over albums for a block of draw some time around 1988. Idiot.

You can find that Scott Ian show as a stand-up routine/torrent......i nearly bailed after about 15mins, but THEN the cunt goes deeeeeeeeep metal and his anecdotes of meeting Lemmy & touring with other bands are properly funny.

metal in life anecdote: if the morning has been rushed "Reign in Blood" on the way into work driving absolutely sets the right tone for the rest of the day
