i must have t13quadraberb in the highest of high defs, it is my birthright

    I know how you feel!

love that track and it sounds newer then almost anything else uploaded, very, VERY high defs

imagine it's a part of something bigger we haven't heard yet *cums*

It is the newest track uploaded.

I thought the newest was T08+4?

    Sweet track.

Speaking of new stuff (at least I think this is new anyways), there's some stuff going on in the song below that sounds really cool as well. Whatever happens @1:35 and onwards>

Was that track on the syrobonkers interview? I seem to have missed it and can only find it on soundcloud under the

    user48736353001.

    My bad, found it...

  2. regarding the mix of different music... agreed, but i wouldn't expect any different from a 'best of' style vote tbh.

encourage you guys to start putting together SC playlists that make up more coherent 'releases' of similar material. will be adding a feature soon that lets people import, share and vote on their SC playlists - at the absolute least having a community effort to organise the dump into virtual albums will make it WAY more great to listen to.

    THIS!!!

Plus I definitely like the starring idea.

Do you have any idea how many people have voted so far (might be a nice statistic to show on the site) and if Richard will post the url on the SC page for more voters? I can imagine not everyone knows about the url up until now.

  3.

dont really get why ibiza spliff is getting so many votes? i mean its a nice track but more of an okay one i think, its like normal chillout music...

Yeah same. It's decent, but I don't get the hype. Is it really the third best track on his SC?

Not one of my favourites either. I'm surprised it rates so highly considering it sounds less 'afx' than most of the tracks on there.

Didn't vote on it either, was surprised to see it so highly rated... It's a good track, but in my opinion surely not top 5 material. I still can't believe TSIM is not getting more love!

  4. Quote from his Soundcloud profile text and a link to this clip. It almost looks to funny to be true, seems like a scene from a movie.

"One of the disadvantages of being semi famous, is that those moments you hope nobody was watching get caught for all eternity 4 anyone to watch."

  5. Not sure if this was noticed/see/spoken of yet but 9 Spectrum Has new artwork I hadn't seen before.

Also saw this for the first time last night. '96 MTV interview with Simone Angel

    https://youtu.be/rndV_5q8Tkc?t=7m49s

(I know probs jazz band) but was wondering,

have we heard the track at 7:49 - sounds RDJAlbum or HangableAutoBulb but I'm not placing it...

if not, maybe in one of the new drops?

    It's carn marth at 7:49

  6. Saw this description on the PrncDMC track, didn't see it before so don't know if it was there cool story though :)

    "1989-90

made on a qx21 sequencer, nightmare

how i got the recording qual this good on cassette is a mystery to me now, lots of trial and error spose, not sure how those cassettes would sound these days, safe to say that they wont sound better but i could do the transfers better and ADC's are much better these days, so dunno, swings & roundabouts.
i encoded this and loads of others onto DAT about 25 years ago, when London records lent me a Sony DTC 1000 for 2 days around 1992 and i quickly backed up as much as poss [lucky i did] as well as giving them pacman :)
Back then there was no way to backup a recorded song, no way at all !!!
think about that you youngsters, sure you could record it onto ANOTHER tape but it would always sound terrible.
So I used to get ver paranoid about my master tapes…i kept them in military water proof boxes, still in them now, most of em, not all.
I’m actually getting progressively worse at keeping my stuff safe now .
But then DAT came along to save the day, even though they pretty much always glitched on me, some of my mates got lucky with them, i thnk i was just in too much of a hurry and didn’t treat them very carefully.
I went through about 10 DAT machines, portable ones, big ones, never liked any of them really.
I bought a £7,000[new]DAT machine last year for £50, recorded beautifully until i dropped it 30 cm onto a carpet, but the thing was so heavy it totally broke, bugger, slipped out of my hands!
I once hacked a DAT player to play back DAT tapes that i purposefully ruined, strtching the tape, spraying hair spray on the tape etc, fucked the speed of the motor up etc, sounded really good, will dig out., used plenty of sounds from it though like in ‘xepha’, that has some stuff from that.
then from DAT to computer about 10 years ago."

  7. i think you guys are reading too much into this imo

    Why do think that?

Personally I don't think it is Warp related, I think he has a very solid fanbase who will always buy what he releases.

On the contrary this whole thing can only help Warp sell more records, as more people will get to know his muisic.

I already sent him a positive message, I think it would be cool if as many of us here would do that so we can outnumber the negativity he is receiving!

  8.

    :w00t:

surfing on Sine Waves 2[[work in progress][not in order, maybe you can order it for me please?]]

list not complete, might add from tracks already on SC or from the archives,

or take away tracks if they dont fit, so feel free to omit some.

These tracks are mostly from the same era with a few newer and older ones that were on SOSW1.

SOSW1 was also a mixture of old ones like polygon window, audax and newer ones like Quoth, so I dont mind mixing it up again a little bit.

If you would like to try and order this, it would be very helpful and might end up getting used :)

Im currently working on new stuff, so not in the mood to do it.

Would love to release this on Warp, all mastered properly, Warp?

Wish Rob Mitchell was around to help, RIP Rob, your still very, very missed man!

    prichard d jams

This is just fantastic news. I keep on wondering how the end of this year will look like if he keeps up this tempo. Can't wait to see the next release and hear his new stuff which he's working on.

  9. It's pretty hard to pick tracks as it often took years to get into some of the tunes. By voting them only the most accessible ones will make it but that's not what afx is about

He clearly stated that he will not follow the suggestions for a 100% but will pick some of the tracks himself, so I'm pretty sure it would be a nice compilation.

  10.

so do we all just chime in with our top 5 in this thread and they will be counted?

I only put up a quick top 5 because other posters were discussing how difficult it would be, but it appears to have started a chain reaction that'll probably end up wiping out civilization before the maniton can finish his work on the poll. Sorry about that guys. WTF does maniton even mean anyway?

the most appaling thing is that almost nobody seemed to have voted for Dulcimer Dub or Tsim 2

man selecting just 5 is too hard, going to await a proper voting thing

I completely agree on Tsim 2. That one is a fixed for me!

  11. the experimental side of this is honestly a strong part of the allure. if the end result isn't too terrible i'll probably open source this and chuck it up on github to be used for other soundcloud artists - be interesting to see if other artists follow suit after this aphex thing (i.e. release a bunch of old tracks, have fans vote on a release).

i can change the numbers too, 20 seems about right to make a selection for a double-CD/four-vinyl style release, but i'd argue there's *easily* far more than 20 strong tracks. any input/ideas appreciated :)

don't want to over-complicate this though, the voting should be pretty simple/straight forward to do

suggested to afx perhaps we do the voting based on a playlist he sets up (i.e. the AFX selekta playlist) so he has some control over what we vote for... probably makes a list far more manageable, but maybe he's curious whether we're all nuts about a track he doesn't personally rate so highly?

Maybe the other tracks which don't make it in the top 20 could be sent to the buyers of the vinyl/cd as bonus downloads (as happened with the Analord series). If of course he feels like going through these extra tracks for that reason only...

  12. After a few months I'm still listening to Syro, what a great album. With every listen I hear sounds I hadn't noticed.

Think my fav tracks must be:

    CIRCLONT14 (shrymoming mix),
    syro u473t8+e (piezoluminescence mix)

  13.

Maybe he is waiting for someone to put up the poll, before he uploads anything else? It has been a while since his last upload...

    I think 100% he isn't

You're prbably right. As far as the poll is concerned I am in favour of doing it now, maybe per 100 tracks. This way in the bset of cases we might even get more than 1 release
