    Ahem!

"SEAN BOOTH It’s strangely jarring. It’s sort of too real. All this Covid stuff has put me in a really different place from where I was when we were just compiling it. Back then we were saying, “This is totally right.” But now I’m wondering if it’s too right. And I’m really feeling a bit self-conscious if I’m being totally honest. It’s difficult to listen to because it’s too emotionally resonant."

Even Sean admits >his own perception of his own album is influenced by the current state of affairs<.

Hey, wait, what?? What is Sean doing here in Norway? Hiking in the mountains? Fishing? Rock climbing? Scouting after new venues for holding gigs in? Guess we'll never find out ?

I heard he was going to guest host New Scandinavian Cooking.  He's probably out collecting cloud berries.

The latter point is certainly conjecture on my part.  The former is how the album strikes me; bully if you feel different.  I'll concede your view point; I can't count how many times I've been annoyed at people who describe music as 'dark' that I find to be uplifting, etc.

YMMV and all that cliched crap.

  4. I will agree this is a very sad album, which is very fitting considering the state of global affairs ATM.  I typically go to music for its energizing properties and almost instinctually avoid melancholy music, so it will be interesting how SIGN comes off when the world around isn't in such a shit state.

I just finished listening to r cazt and LCC queued up right afterward.  Never has LCC sounded so much like a pop song.  LOL.

Agreed, though history has proven this sort of comment par for the course.  In fact, I'd argue almost everything posted in the last 24hrs might easily be confused as cut and paste from any past ae release.  Which is precisely why I've held off making any sort of grand, sweeping generalizations; my ears simply haven't listened to anywhere near the necessary numbers of cycles to speak intelligently about this new release.  No fun that, I know, but I'll bet my lunch money  A) most everyone making some grand proclamations for or against SIGN, will eat their words at a later date B) that SIGN is a strong album in it's own right even if I can't yet peg where it falls in overall pecking order.

The positive reactions to this have me hyped, but the comparisons to OPN/BoC/several other artists I don't care for have me nervous. What am I in for?

More or less, like a whole album's worth of very melodic AE, with a lot of new sounds to keep it fresh.  The nods to BoC, et al, are minimal, IMO.

  7. If you legitimately don't like either of the two principle candidates, if you legitimately think neither candidate is suitable for the task, then by all means, vote for a different candidate.  If you like none of the candidates on the ballot, then write one in you feel to be suitable.  Consider it your protest vote and go to sleep knowing you participated in the democratic process.  But if you abstain from voting, you are nothing but a lazy, apathetic bum who deserves the shit politicians you keep complaining about.

  8. Having re-viewed this thread over the past few days, may I remind everyone:

    1.  A funny picture is inherently funny.  A pictured annotated to be funny is a meme.

    2. Any post that requires scrolling, and that scrolling is not directly related to the humor, should be made as a two or more posts.

    3.  LOL posts contribute nothing.  Use the damn like button, dammit.

    4.  LOL posts that quote a multipage post that must be scrolled just to see the 'LOL' at the end should be a lifetime ban.

    5.  Pictures are funnier than text; see rule #1 above.

OK, back to the funny pictures.
