Just got back from Hereditary....hooooooo boy. Normally I don't give a fuck about seeing things in a theater versus home viewing but there are some sound-dependent elements in this one that work really well in a proper sound rig.

God damn was waiting for this one to come out on blu ray. might have to go cinema either very late or very early.

see it on a big screen with a good projector. there are a bunch of scenes, especially near the end, that rely on very subtle tricks of the light and playing with the way the eye adjusts to lowlight. extremely well done, I’ve never seen anything quite like it in a horror film before. I’m sure on Blu Ray there will be artifacting or noise.

    Just want to add:

mostly a minor thing but it really added some weight to it that they bothered to crack open a copy of the Lemegeton and actually get the symbol and it's attached demon right

  2. Just regular anxiety and depression for me. I've never taken any meds for them but I did see a therapist for quite a few years and I do keep a fairly rigorous self-care schedule of fitness, meditation, yoga, and CBT to keep it in check. It does get bad sometimes and manifests some elements of paranoia (I get ideas that everyone secretly hates me so I distance myself from people occasionally).

***Most importantly I have a spouse who understands and goes through the same things (though they are worse for her) and supports and helps me when she can. This makes a huge difference.***

For those that think they should go it alone, I would say try to find groups or friends that understand or are in similar situations. Human contact and support helps immensely. I know somewhat cultural traditions can impede this, but do try imho.

You are all welcome to PM me if you need.

  3. ^Martin Short can be in as the wife or a random retail worker but he can't be zany because the film cannot be funny at all (not that Short is actually very funny, but just in case).

Is this based on a true story?

    *looks Auxien in the eyes*

It is but not one that happened to me. It's more of a general middle America tale I pulled from the zeitgeist to illustrate the inanity of modern capitalism and the banality of the common man. I'm sure this exact thing has happened to hundreds, and thats why it would be such a terrible film.

    Or something.

Edit: or all parts could be played by Martin Short and directed by Tyler Perry and be a zany fun trip, sure.

Also did I include enough pure bullshit to make myself sound like a jerk because that's definitely what I was going for. Hope it was enough.

Edit 2: this film is very important to me.

Shorts are a bafflingly political item of clothing. I'd avoid wearing them all together if it weren't the temperature of boiling water here most of the year.

just remember: below the knee a juggalo ye be :^)

not saying Kramer's thing was excuseable but I can't imagine being anyone from the cast of Seinfeld. Like even if you think the show's a little shit it was pretty iconic and gonna be like the peak/high point of ur life. People from Mongolia probably know what Seinfeld is

like I could understand kramer being a little DISGRUNTLED washed up feeling but yeah not, that word

wasn't his excuse or the excuse people made for him that he was trying to 'go to a place' in comedy and riff and be edgy or something? because that guy was heckling him and ol' kramer he was striking out at every turn?  what a shit show. i wouldn't worry about michael richards.. i'm sure he still has plenty of that sienfeld money and gets a royalty check or something.

michael richards is truly haunted by it - I sympathize with him in that regard - it was angry and inappropriate but he's not a bigoted asshole - he's kind of the first person to really get the backlash for saying something offensive without a worthy context or excuse - I can assure you plenty of 80s to mid-90s era white comics said racist shit all the time without being called out.

not sure if this is a troll post, first of all blowing up like that is inexcusable, second of all seinfeld royalty checks or whatever but (money probably doesn't make you happy), I would say the most happiness in their lives came from being on the show and having that comraderie and STUF IS HAPPENING constantly

all I was arguing is it's probably a /depressing/ situation to make it to such success, and then I said not just Kramer, like everyone on that show afterward, Elaine had some moderate success with one or two sitcoms? But everyone else was like half-baked idea for a series that tanked over and over. Maybe Jerry has some HBO thing I dunno, but it must've felt like "oh great I have this resume of most successful sitcom like in the history of ever, but maybe that didn't actually reflect upon my talent? Or it was the entire cast and some kind of Borg mind-meld that made the show any good and by myself I'm kind of shitcomedian?

I guess imagine if Autechre broke up and both guys did a solo act but the 'magic' of Autechre wasn't there

but yeah I was just arguing it would lead to a general sort of depression still doesn't excuse yelling the n word on stage. Although it could have the air of a nervous breakdown more than people wanna admit. Still even manifesting in that way is weird maybe? I don't hecking know

Edit: and then the success of Curb Your Own Enthusiasm kind of compounds it. If ur a Seinfeld actor, is it like was it just good writing that made the show halfway interesting? Was my role as comedic actor on the show just like a FIGUREHEAD or something

"For her performance on Veep, Louis-Dreyfus has received several accolades, most notably six consecutive Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series from 2012–2017"

2 series that ran for 5 plus seasons is more than moderate success imo.

Agree about Richards and Alexander though. I think the success of the show was mostly down to Larry David's writing (the success of Curb Your Enthusiasm confirms this) and the chemistry between the cast and the great side characters.

  5. Ullillilia is pure. No skeletons there.

#10 Christmas 2008 the worst in at least a decade: Christmas is my second favorite holiday of the year, a close second; Independence Day is in first place. However, this year was one of the worst in a long time. We had company over, something extremely rare, and both parents wouldn't let me go out of my room due to a reason that's confidential. I had a solution, a blanket (which worked before), but my parents wouldn't allow it due to a supposed "rule". This ruined this year's Christmas. As a consequence, I'm now taking counter measures for what they did - not doing things they want when they tell me to. In addition, I'm not going to get them any where near as much in the way of gifts next year, and canceling any birthday gifts. I had one for my dad, but now I'm not going to get him it because he played a role with this. At least one was friendly and had sympathy, my sister. She won't be affected by the counter measures. As a consequence, I was not able to participate in the gift-opening (I was still lucky enough to get a photo), or even the family games. Instead of doing this, with nothing else for me to do otherwise, I worked on my web site update.

  6. It seems to be a media hysteria thing.

Yes, what a lot (seriously a lot) of great artists in various media throughout history have done in their personal lives is reprehensible.

It almost seems to be random which ones get a large scale media destruction campaign leveled against them.

I'd say maybe there's some correlation to who is actually convicted of a crime but that doesn't seem to be it either.

Not saying I'm a fan of this approach at all. I don't buy much vinyl anymore as I don't have a lot of time to sit and listen to records properly, but I do buy a ton of digital. It is a rather transparent strategy at this point. Maybe it is nostalgia driving it a bit too. Maybe some vague notion of selling to "the right fans" a.k.a. people who actually want it as opposed to people who want to flip it on discogs for a 300% profit.

What bothers me is that most of "the right fans" don't live in the Netherlands...and it will end up on discogs for 300% profit regardless.

I don't know I guess I'll just ask my local retailer if he can order me a copy one way or another but I don't think that's possible.

Agreed. It probably will. I was mostly spitballing/speculating as I don't really understand it totally either. I realize elements of my posts were contradictory.

  8. Don't think its that simple. In the world of electronic music, volume of sales will be low regardless. Also, it doesnt even make sense. You know what else fosters sales? Commercials! You make it known to people they can buy something which they dont have, but what they really need to be happy. Now, which strategy would foster more sales? It's not that hard to figure out.... yeah right. In bizarro world most likely... come on

Clone has been doing this a long time. I'd guess if it didn't work, they wouldn't do it.

I highly doubt Drexciya ever sold a lot, but they did have a rabid fanbase who were also vinyl buyers/collectors. I think for vinyl collectors scarcity works. Niche groups with low print runs on their releases generate a lot of second hand market action as well. (see also: Coil). All of this adds to whatever mystique they've built over the years.

  9. Wanna hear it!

Q: do we really have to regress to the pre internet age where releases were some unknown and unobtainable ghosts. And the most interesting thing about music is it's rarity? As opposed to what it actually sounds like.

Ima bit frustrated about this being such an obscure thing that even if you search on clone you cant find the release. What up withat?

Not that hard to figure out. Scarcity fosters demand fosters sales. If it's just on BC for 4 bucks or whatever then people listen then move on. Sales is not the same as music appreciation.
