Episode 6 really nailed the feeling of the comic imo, which would be issues #8 & 13.
Also, how taking the opposite approach to Alan Moore, helped Gaiman retain more control over the Endless, and avoided what happened to Watchmen:

yeah show certainly got better as it went on, death nails her part well enough actually and godling's portrayal was also very entertaining.

one thing that's still majorly annoying is the added exposition dialogue / voiceover, like the intro or the "they're only bad because you destroy their dreams" yadda at the end of 24 hours, kinda ham-fisted and underestimating the audience's intelligence imo.

ah and hell felt somewhat uninspired in comparison to the comics...

well whatevs, enjoyable enough as it is after all.

if it helps kids getting into the comics that's cool.

I'm referring to a recent interview, the question was "if you were to give an ae release to a young dude, what would you choose?". Sean said something like "confield: there would be the "what the hell is going on here factor". For Roberto It was fine, as long as he didn't have to talk too much

    i see, interesting!

on topic: amazing track, deffo top 5/ exai.

in an interview, Sean, said that if he were to play someone, for the first time, a track, he would probably choose from confield, because in its being "weird" it is very direct.

iirc he said it'd highly depend on the kinda person (as in musical background) he'd introduce the music to and your example was his "metalhead" solution.

_if_ we're talking about the same ama.

  4. if yer based or on vacation in berlin these days i'd highly recommend visiting this:

AKIRA – The Architecture of Neo Tokyo

standing before production originals, among others the legendary city skyline from the intro (which was actually made last in merely 2 1/2 days!), is absolutely unreal. you'd expect them to be kinda bigger than appearing on screen so scaling down makes for the ridiculous amount of detail in each background... but NO! this shit is even SMALLER than expected! i have no fucking idea how a human being can even draw that freakishly intricately. snatched some a+ art prints along the way, too.

here some impressions (photographs weren't allowed oc and i'm an asshole but yeah, the things i do for love):

  5. we really blew it, didn't we. apologies to future generations fighting for water and lebensraum.

as for me i utterly detest this hot ass weather already. srsly anything above ~26/27°C is already making it considerably harder for me to think and just generally be myself. if this 30+ nonsense really is the new normal i will move somewhere up north the next few years. dead fucking serious.

The Sandman.  I'm surprised they didn't replace the lead character with a black trans pansexual paraplegic.

Joking aside, it's alright.  Gets pretty boring at times though.

rly hate having to admit to be in that camp, but yeah: the wokeness levels do feel awfully forced to me, too, especially since the original was quite progressive anyway. not that it hurts the source material but... i mean... why? only saw first episode so far but i'm also not sure about some of the changes and additions... like... again... why? on the other hand i missed the individual fates of ppl suffering from "sleep sickness". music n dream world sets bit run of the mill, where's the psychedelic vibe?

ah well, not giving up on it yet. performances were solid and morpheus is cast quite well imo. didn't come even close to the comic tho.

    Richard devine or James?

I met Autechre. Asked a silly question. Got a silly answer. Noticed their tour van was a pile of shit. This was 22 years ago.

Really wish I saw the mic in blender show with Richard in NYC. True Folklore.

didn't he also supposedly use sand paper as a record? I dunno

So how many people on wamtm are old xltronic peeps that can't log in anymore? I'm one of them. I was a bit snobbish about watmm back then; circa 2007 or 09

my account still works, rarely log in tho... pretty deprecated.

xltronic was cooler at one point. that was a long time ago tho

yeah i fondly remember 2003~2006 exclusive stuff going on, like the ae remix contest or the marathon dj set. a long time ago.

  8. interesting how these kinda "starcult" aspects always seem to sneak their way in. in this case especially since electronic music culture often has the tendency to superficially shift focus towards the product and away from the "author" (in the focauldian sense), problemizing the latter with sampling / dj-ing, questioning traditional notions of virtuosity and inspiration down to functionally reduced artworks etc. ... or maybe that's just my interpretation.

anywhoo, not a complaint by any means, just an observation. humans just seem to love admiring other humans.

Netflix and Neil Gaiman finally unveil the first look at The Sandman TV series (The A/V Club)

This. I'm really looking forward to it, having been a Gaiman/Sandman fan about as long as I can remember. Good Omens was as good as it gets, and the Sandman series is already looking better. Giddy middle-aged fanboys FTW.

wow, totally missed this was in production.

gobbled em up til ~seasons of mist, then i honestly kinda forgot about sandman (graphic novels in general for a while), but i have nothing but fond memories of the series.

gaiman also really seems into it, so this might actually work? (despite the comic really living through its medium, like with the different types of fonts and bubble styles, changing artists etc. )
