agreed; i've been a bit bothered by the suggestions that these are all b-sides because there's some damned amazing tracks in here.
-
and, interesting:
-
lul'dalso the 'richie's ring' part in that track is making me lul also
-
34 ibiza spliff is sublime. very different sounds we're starting to hear, unlike other material
-
i'm still blown away that these are *unreleased* tracks. like they were somehow not good enough for a release or something.
-
assume you mean - https: // soundcloud.com/user48736353001/tracks
wierd, more tracks there...
cool, aphex broke soundcloud?
-
i can't see this fogbeak/fog break track youse are referring to; did it get deleted or renamed?
-
ok, i know i'm like 12 hours late, but !@(*(!@*$!
-
11 hours 47 minutes
faaaaaark

so i've been travelling the last two days - holy crap, more music!?
are we over 6 hours now? bloody glad i gifted the unlimited over the pro now (which is limited to 6 hours). i hesitated when purchasing it, never in a million years did i think we'd get >6 hours of files but i thought the gesture would feel cheapened by buying the limited account type.

Ah, go take a dump.

35 Japan sounds a lot like Balam Acab 10+ years before Balam released anything.
yeah it does ,but way better. I think it's a pretty nice reminder to a lot of newer producers today like Balam Acab that a single electronic musician invented/refined so many original styles over such a relatively short period of time. I would like to think of it as some kind of challenge and encouragement for new producers especially to break out of the box more and not feel comfortable staying with one genre/sound palette too long, and hopefully see why its a good thing to keep trying new types of sounds
Yeah. There aren't any newer contemporary electronic artists that are as prolific/varied/innovative as AFX was in the 90's that I can think of. Not saying there aren't any great artists right now or anything. Just nobody seems to have that amount of freedom and abandon in their work.
Coil is one of the only other acts I can think of who explored such varied territory (if we're talking strictly 'electronic music')
its just very inspiring. I know that the same can be gathered from just listening to his discography, but this just blows the doors off everything for me. Its very hard to explain. like i was saying in earlier post, the implications this has not just for fans but for the entire world of electronic music will not be felt immediately but will have a huge impact. Maybe im just a really excited fan who is losing my grip on reality
as a huge coil fan, i agree, and i was about to suggest it would be great if they did something like what afx just did too... but :(
-
in all fairness, afx obviously forgot he had released it, hence uploading it? (and i recall at least one other track that was uploaded that he commented he forgot he released?)
if the man himself can't remember, what bloody chance do we have? ;)
Well, I thought I had listened to everything officially released, but I never came across 35 Japan. Could you tell me where you get it from?
Check this out
ta, good list

i'm talking to people outside of WATMM about this and some are still skeptical this is actually rdj. srsly!?
you are our watmm king man, i hope rdj gives you a nice present for the gopro you donated him
haha, as i've said to others, i'm not convinced my actions caused richard to do anything outside of what he was already intending on doing. i assume part of the allure for him to do this anonymously was to see whether fans really do recognise his work, hence it being a free account initially, and he was intending on either upgrading the account or spreading the music over several free accounts.
i just hope an internet random doing it before he did was interpreted as a gesture that deeply communicates that we, the fans, really do appreciate the shit out of this. i remember reading in an interview that he was really touched about the response to the caustic window kickstarter from watmm, which certainly helped me make the odd decision to do it. it was also one of you guys who pointed out that one can gift soundcloud accounts, i had honestly assumed i wasn't the only one who did it (i was probably going to gift the account to modey/pselodux if rdj didn't accept it... i'm still floored that he did, i had no expectations he would actually read the message).
seperately; i'm going through one of the most challenging periods of my life at the moment, and this experience has completely flipped my outlook on life around. it's pretty incredible and this couldn't come at a better time. very oddly, the last time i was going through a very tough period was slightly before when ae came on here and did their QA thing, and that also helped incredibly. it's strange... as cliche as it sounds, as a teenager i often said and felt that music genuinely helped me through dealing with challenges... it's strange to be in my 30's and the same phrase applying - hell, even the same artists - but now in an entirely different way.

hmm wonder why he deleted it
-
wow. i was out much of yesterday so i'm catching up this morning on the 40-odd tracks that have been uploaded i haven't listened to yet. this is incredible. it's not like these tracks just weren't good enough to make a release; many are on par or exceed released stuff.
-
wow, this is nuts. never expected this much!
-
Also XF - if you have a PayPal I'm sure a few watmmers would be happy to chip in and reimburse you for the soundcloud unlimited account
+1
i genuinely appreciate the offer (and the generosity of watmm'ers - thankyou), but it's not needed - i'm just happy as hell we're getting this much music - and i suspect i'd end up accidentally collecting more than the $145 which would be wrong.
if anybody should share their paypal address it's rdj...
-
just woke up.
wow, this is like every christmas happening at once. this is incredible.

looks like he accepted my gift:
