  1. okay, I think i just got the legit cd quality mp3's, but the rars were broken so not all songs were uncompressed
  2. First half definitely seems stronger to me, and a pon first time hearing the first half, I was thinking it was going to be one of my favorites from them, but second half really drives these melodies that I am not sure of yet. I'd prefer to hear better rips before diggin too much more in it
  3. oh lol. it's much better than you make it out to be. all the distortion, clipping whatever you want to call it sounds very intentional to me. reason i make the St. Anger comparison is because a bunch of people in here thinks the m4a is broken, and that they aren t recognizing that AE has been trying to make their stuff sound dirty and distorted for the last couple lps Dirty will still sound dirtier if its poorly recorded. I expect little things to come forward, just to make a more complete sound. Won't sound drastically different, but it will tie up loose knots I have about this album atm... cause for the most part I really dig it
  4. Awepittance seems to be constantly against the grain, its cool he brings valid perspective
  5. Quaristice is just a tad long in my opinion, this one feels better paced, but content wise I can't really say which has better material yet. Quaristice has some complex beat stuff like Plyphon and whatnot, that make it very appealing... gonna have to wait to hear a better rip for this, to decide I agree, they are just apple and oranges in the end though... just very different musically, though you can hear the progression
  6. lol, it sounds irresponsible, and for most probably is, but I wouldn't do it if I thought it was at all dangerous. I drive great while stoned. its not at all the same as driving drunk or even driving when sleepy. just relax
  7. the bloody car speakers suck cock and as I said, ghost town. its gonna be awesome
  8. the true test for this fucker is gonna be tonight when I get to drive around my old hometown (which is a ghosttown at night) smoking spliffs and listening to this with nice headphones. I can see this album being great for the car
  9. I can see the audio sounding much better when we get the wavs, tis one of the reason I am a little hesitant to call this the real thing, cause the production didn't sound up to nuff at first, but I think glotch is right and its just recorded poorly. Would explain why it randomly has a song play twice, someone doing a quick job on this and rushed it out
  10. I dont see why? I wanted Autechre to do something unexpected and thats what we got. They dont have to be abrasive and super complex to get their point across always. I'm fine with that. For me, they've always presented two paths upon listening... either awe at the mindfuck beat slaying or a deep-rooted nostalgic, yet alien sense of haunting at their melodies. I got the later with this release. I didnt quite get either with Quaristice. Take Confield's VI Scose Poise. This album is a natural progression of what we got there. Same goes for Fermium, then Simm. Perhaps those sounds are more bright and sharp, but they are also more "holographic" or 3D in how they cut through the listening space. I'm enthusiastic because the album deserves to be. If it was just another beat slaying album, I'd be sitting here saying, "..Albeit good, its the same. Where's the melodies?" I agree, and after hearing the first 20 minutes or so, I had to stop in excitement cause I knew it was legit. Then I checked watmm and saw all these doubts, and at first thought it was hilarious, but then I went and finished it, and some of the tracks do feel a little bizarre for me to say with confidence it is ae. And with the weirdness of this being one long track and one song playing twice, idk... its an odd situation to anticipate something, and then receive something that could or could not be it, to feel good about it though, but still unsure if its the real deal
  11. yeah, honestly with my new understanding that someone could have put the radio tracks in their fake, it has me questioning things a bit more... cause ilanders is by far the coolest track and its coincidentally one of the two we can confirm as real. I don't even know which song is see on see... I am still wondering if we have all been duped, good music regardless though
  12. Promos are generally the finished albums, identical to release versions. I write for a magazine and got card sleeve CD promos of Untilted and Quaristice and both were identical to the released versions. The art was very different (specific to the promo) but the music was exactly the same. stand corrected, I wasn't sure in the first place, thats why I put "imo"
  13. that is strange, did someone count the tracks on this leak to see if there is an equal number? someone should also send a last.fm message to that magazine dude who has it scrobbled and see if he would confirm or deny the leak... i;ll do it if someone links his profile
  14. well because this is one mp4 then perhaps it won't match up exactly, but is it about the same... cause I find it would be improbable for someones fake to coincidentally match the final song lengths not if you render a track then manually speed it up/slow it down to fit the right time. does it sound like this has happened? also another trick would be to leave silences at the end of tracks. nothing sounds sped up or slow'd down to me, and the album kind of flows with no silence... it seems promo-ish in how its put together imo i can see why people are pissed, cause some songs are quite simple, but I think what we'll find to be most impressive is the detail in it, which we won't really hear until we get wavs. i'm really diggin this a lot though
  15. well because this is one mp4 then perhaps it won't match up exactly, but is it about the same... cause I find it would be improbable for someones fake to coincidentally match the final song lengths
  16. do track lengths add up compared to leak? im pretty convinced at this point though, but to be sure
  17. those radio tracks are real though? and this leak sounds in the same vein as that, so I think its real.
  18. yeah I heard the first two songs and thought it was legit, but what did throw me off was the amount of melody I was hearing as the album went, it seemed like too much to really be AE for some reason. I see this as kind of an end of an era album for them, like they now have progressed over all 9 numerical single digit steps, and now can kind of break free of this insane obsession with pushing sound, and just make something really pleasant. some will perhaps see it as them messing around or not really pushing themselves, but I think doing something like this could be (depending on ones perspective) be a more challenging route, cause their no longer depending on the technique to impress you, the biggest fireworks has just gone off essentially, and now its time to relax and enjoy i'm sure they'll ramp up again in coming years and give us more experimental beat heavy stuff
  19. wait i'm a tad confused, didn't a radio station play some songs on the new album, and so don't we have confirmation then? I hadn't listened to the radio clips, but I assumed that because the leak came shortly after and people said it was legit, it was indeed legit, cause they recognized the same tracks that they heard moments before on the radio i'm gonna go listen to that radio clip now
  20. wait were you talking to me or lump? and I didn't realize I said much in earlier oversteps threads haha I would be shocked if this masterpiece was fake. Download and enjoy it , I can't wait to listen to this in better quality
