  1. If I have to get up in the morning I set my alarm, it goes, I get up. When my girlfriend sets an alarm, she has it go off at least 4 times over 40 minutes using snooze. Wtf get up already, you could have set it an hour later.

I'm with your girlfriend on this.

As I was last night :cisfor:

    No I wasn't. I was alone. :cerious:

  2. Possible, and that's what I usually do (I like Let's Play-videos) but with some games (like this one) I'd like to experience it myself. Maybe I can convince him that I can start a new game and play for an hour, just to get a feel for the environment and story, and then skip the bit in between.

I just don't know how the story is spread out - will there be tons of things that spoil surprises for me, or is it more slow-paced storytelling and I just miss out on a few environments?

  3. I watched "I Am Legend" (again) because it was on TV last night. Saw it in cinema back when it came out. Yet another great example of how something that could have been quite good can be ruined very efficiently through the use of ridiculous CGI.

  4.

I believe Scully considerably shaped my preference in women... great series - it really kicks off with Season 4, they get mad experimental with each episode from that point onwards.

    Shes awesome

She's tiny? That ruins it a bit for me! I'm 6.5 ... although it does make sense with her voice and everything. Tiny women often have beautiful faces... why is that?

Anyway, feltcher, Season 3 is kind of the worst (well, I haven't seen the post season 7 ones) - That's probably why you stopped. Don't force yourself to re-watch, just continue.

  5.

'Gemini' is an interesting name for the first track as this suggests duality, two sides, dual-natured, elusive...

I hope they are working they way through the zodiac for track names

Would be sweet. But I doubt it. I wonder whether I'll dislike the Gemini-track as much as I dislike Geminis IRL. Also, Mike Sandison is a Gemini.

Isn't Gemini also an air sign, much like Aquarius? Gemini is also appropriate seeing as how it's the first track. The song titles seem to be ordered in way that tracks a progression from least disturbance to decay, followed by rebirth...

Yeah they're both Air signs... I don't get along with those. But Aquarius is a killer track still.

  6.

I know a guy who knows a guy who is one of the press-people invited to a listening-party of the album. Guess I'll have some 2nd hand feedback soon-ish...

When is the listening-party? Where? How many people will be there?

Apparently Berlin. They're being all secretive to prevent leaks, the guy may even have to sign some papers that he doesn't record anything (speculation).

This sounds like a wind-up but I'm actually for real - if he tells (about the album's style, whether it's an Ambient-release or not), I'll tell.

  7. I've been enjoying Hannibal, there's a lot of things wrong with the show, but I still love it. Best gory serial killers as entertainment show on tv right now. So damned stylish, just a little too stupid to become more than a guilty pleasure.

Exactly, it's a bit silly at times, but WAY better than what you'd expect from a series on freakin' NBC! The ideas they put into the serial killers are immensely fucked up ... and it's better than what The Walking Dead developed into.

Ever wonder why it's so stylish? I only noticed during the 2nd episode but executive producer is David Slade, the guy responsible for ...

    (and Hard Candy)

  8. So the tracklengths are known.

Only two songs that clock above 5 minutes. That's not really the case with previous BOC albums. It feels like all tracks are relatively short somehow.

Perhaps it's gonna be their 'Quaristice' ... !

My 3 year old insists on listening to Happy Cycling in the car. I won't answer his questions about why its called that

Uhm ... why IS it called Happy Cycling? I thought it was about bicycles ...

@BoC: Whatever happened to "Dragon" or "Rhombix" or whatever the guy was called who "stopped being a BoC-fan" some time in 2010 because they hadn't released anything for a while...?

  9. This day kinda sucked until just now!

An actual new Boc-Album - FUCKING BRILLIANT!

However, now that I've already gotten used to the idea over the past week or so, I must say: Both the cover art and the track titles are the absolute worst they have done to date! Seriously what went wrong there ... :cerious:

    Still yay! :emotawesomepm9:

When all this started I was expecting a June 9th release, but that's a sunday.

LOL they must have been so pissed when they found out ...

  10. I liked how tight-fashionable-pants-and-makeup-in-a-survival-situation stopped to have a chat with the dying guy instead of continuing her attempt to escape, and then it was up to him to remind her to hurry.

also - why in the hell would martinez and black woodbury guy NOT shoot the governor? also - why didn't any of these well-armed people shoot back at the governor? he has been pretty unrealistically invincible

it's been bugging me about the zombies in the prison. there are only a few of them walking around at any given time, michonne should be able to clear ~50 every day and barely break a sweat. yet whenever they need to move through the gates it's a big deal to dispatch or distract the 5 zombies in the immediate area. why does this little stuff bug me so much

Michael Haneke (so wrong to mention him in the context of The Walking Dead...) said in an interview "A film becomes boring the very second a writer makes even a single one of his characters less intelligent than he is himself." (roughly translated) - I think of this quote of his every once in a while when watching movies or shows, and I think he's absolutely spot on with it.

It's easier for writers to create stupid characters to carry their story further... but it does take the tension away.

Other than that, I thought this final episode was kind of decent. Maybe because I had such low expectations at this point. I also had nothing against Andrea, she was alright, too.

But the governor shooting everyone and not getting shot himself is just fucking unrealistic and a twatish move from the writers. They took the easy way out, again.

  11. ^ lol that happened to me before on some cardboard-sleeve-release... I think it was Meam - The L.

Very annoying. It gets easier after a while, but it makes you paranoid you might break both the disk and the sleeve the first few times.

ok i will try to remember that!

    *jots it down*

Apparently, that's what I did, too - I somehow made this drawing immediately after, mind-raped by the album and still high:

    (Hardly NSFW)

  12. The Shining (first re-watch after a four year break) - This was the first time round I noticed some flaws. "Wendy" isn't really all that good an actress... but it's still a mad film with tons of great ideas.

The Ghost Writer - Roman Polanski-film from 2010. I fell in love with this movie instantly. The way it's told, the atmosphere it creates, the cast, the direction.... it's pretty much perfect. Watched it three times in a row.

The Innkeepers - Some piece of shit movie by Ti West. Someone mentioned it in their review for Entrance as an example for a "slow-burn" film style, building suspense over a long period of time - but it's not worth watching. Watch Entrance instead.

Red Road - Pretty good thriller/drama by Andrea Arnold (who directed Fish Tank), although I had a little trouble understanding the lead actress due to her heavy Glasgow accent. Still recommended.

Wuthering Heights (2011) - Another Andrea Arnold film. Very atmospheric and quite a harsh, non-kitschy interpretation (which is good). I did find it a little sad to see the great child-actors replaced by their grown up versions in the 2nd half of the film though.

Jonas - Experimental film project by German master-comedian Christian Ulmen who plays an 18 year old boy who goes back to school. It's a real school, and it's shot like a documentary, so Ulmen is the only actor involved, all others are real. In a way, Ulmen's style could be compared to the films by Sacha Baron Cohen, but this one was more "tame". It pretty much just reminded me what school was like - Terrible feeling, good film.

Rosemary's Baby - I had high hopes for it as it's by Roman Polanski, but I don't think it works very well anymore in this day and age... he did touch some controversial subjects for its time though and, in its own way, the movie is flawlessly directed. It just hasn't aged very well.

The Tenant - Another Polanski from the 70's. It's nice to see how he started out but again, some elements are just hard to take seriously in 2013... a zoom on a screaming person with an echo-effect on the sound just seems comical today. But Polanski always knew how to build proper suspense for sure.

Inland Empire (the first 45 minutes or so, again) - I keep falling asleep to this movie! I love it, but I only know 1/3 of it! It's like it makes me fall asleep cause my brain already thinks it's dreaming while watching it. So very weird. The "neighbor lady" is perhaps the scariest character ever to appear in a film.

  13. OH GOD DAMN IT I didn't realize there was a new episode so I kept reading this thread. Totally spoiler'd it for myself now.

Anyone played the game by Telltale games? It's supposed to be THE shit.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than the show. It actually has characters you care for.

How can I get it? Is it an online-only release? I never used Playstation Store for anything except free demos and I don't think I put a valid location in there, let alone own a credit card ...
