This album is everything I wanted it to be.

This is one of the best ambient/electro-acoustic/electronic/whatever albums I've heard in ages.

Looking forward to this upcoming 7" by The Pattern Forms, new project from Friendly Fires + Jon Brooks. Their library mixes are ace as well.

Hey guys, trying to find some very loud/intense ambient(i don't know if intense is the word.) Layered wall of sound drones that produces a sensory overload in the listener. I listened to a little of the new ben frost album aurora and i liked that but i want something else without beats.
Definitely second that Lawrence English - Kiri No Oto rec. Also his recent album Wilderness Of Mirrors.
Other dense ambient releases (some of these are a bit noisy):
Belong - October Language
Benoît Honoré Pioulard - Plays Roanoke
Gaston Arevalo - Rollin Ballads
Jefre Cantu-Ledesma - Love Is A Stream / Xela & Jefre Cantu-Ledesma - Love Is A Dream

that second Fennesz Sakamoto collab, Cendre. I'd rate that collab #1.
I got this a while ago but have criminally neglected it... will have to give it another spin asap
Great for summer and fall. One of my favorite albums. Doesn't get much deeper than this:

Two new LPs from Janek Schaefer (Room40, 12k, Line)

I liked that Deupree and Sakamoto collab, got the CD, but it didn't click with me as much as that second Fennesz Sakamoto collab, Cendre. I'd rate that collab #1.

Wow indeed. Might be the worst one yet.

your definitely one of the most knowledgeable ambient user in here.
every year, you recommend stuff ive never even heard about.
will look into your recommendation, as always.

No worries. Glad you find it all worthwhile.

Listened last night. Pretty underwhelming. Most of these tracks go nowhere, and the high-end is really in your face. It seems unfinished. Passing.

Digging the samples for sure. Second one reminds me of Susumu Yokota. Waiting for the CD to hit the States.

If it means splitting or editing tracks to fit a side of vinyl, then IMO it gets iffy, especially splitting. Some might also have problems getting up and flipping the record because they want a complete ambient experience with no distractions.
Yep.

It's still there. Some of us think it's not really suited for the vinyl medium, but people love their wax. I'd say for the most part, it's a CD genre, but yeah, I've seen a fair amount of ambient LPs in recent years.

Passing on this one. I did buy the other Variant release which is on its way. Most likely the last thing I buy until Steve releases that Deepchord Presents Echospace [live] rarities & out-takes album, which was teased in April of last year...

Loving this album and the Diversions and Kuang EPs as well. Like the contrast between the kind of frayed, gaseous layers and the more digital bleeps/bloops and percussion. Killer rhythms too. Refreshing to hear such melodic and rhythmic music on PAN.

~ Susumu Yokota ~ RIP

I was so gutted to learn of his passing this morning. Been nagging at me all day. His music had a pretty profound effect on me. I put together a tribute mix, which spans his catalog, aside from his house material. A friend of mine is putting that one together. There is definitely more to him beyond his albums for Leaf and Lo Recordings.
