  2. mate, plotlines, beginnings ends - wtf - hardly any of my favourite writing [fiction, novels, tv, film, music] has definite plot or characters and if they do they're often just thinly veiled sham ways of offering an explanation for something intangible [like someone pressured them to or they had to use them to make it possible for people to comprehend

also lots of good authors never studied and don't have sets of rules

just make the words happen man

  3. Going to book a flight to Delhi or Lima for winter.

Just a 10 day jaunt in posh hotels in some third world country is all I want. Been to India before and can't wait [omg can't wait] to go back many times so 1 week in Delhi [only did Mumbai before] will be enough for a chilled out break but also for several reasons will be going to Peru at least once in the next year so should really go for longer [if I could get the time of work] but fuckit , either will be amazing and short trips to far away destinations should not be sniffed at [won't cost much more than the equivalent 10 days in Europe.

Can't wait to have a posh bed and posh bathroom and hotel breakfast buffets and just relax somewhere that in 5 minutes I can walk out into a pit of insanity and eat crazy cuisine and soak it all in before going back to put on a fresh bath robe and watch TV.

Few short drives out into the surrounding country to go up a hill or something. Love the transition from urban to mountains and back, don't need to make a month of it imo.

  4. More interested in whether there is any basis for the statement that my tripping as a youngster may have affected me mentally - could blame my 'stuff' on that when if I ever speak to doctors it's like 'ffs just tell us when you were touched up by your P.E. teacher' [never] and then they say stuff like 'well there must be a reason that you X, Y or Z and I never thought of saying 'I took nuff acid as a yoot' because I didn't think that could be to blame.

But it might explain why I am like 'money is just bits of paper' and seem to not be effected by things other people are to the point that people are shocked, while I am affected deeply by some things people get over and that.

TBH I like it, my life is fun and I ain't going to be a norm just to satisfy my parents / teachers / bosses or whatever, fuck them they look and sound bored and tired.

  5. I used to grow and take mushrooms on the regular. As stated by other posters, frequent psychedelic voyages before you've really formed a core adult identity can seriously disrupt identity formation, which will make things awkward, ineffective, and difficult for you when you have to start doing adult things. I also agree that psychedelic experiences can become the basis for some really bizarre belief systems, particularly about the nature of the universe. There's a lot of literature out there, particularly from India, that people get latched on to, as it resonates with their psychedelic experiences. I'm not fond of how serious a "journey" that can become for some people, including myself. I never saw anyone complete it -- just gradually snap out of it.

While psychedelics for some seem to be a way to reach some higher esoteric knowledge, I see it more as a way to explore my consciousness and how it works.

I'm prejudiced in this direction. Would love to try them again with this kind of mindset. Also, loved the concept of consciousness as a superfluid. As I get more into neurobiology and the human body, I'm beginning to appreciate the wonders of reductionism paired with systems thinking - speculative and poetical language is just too dangerous when trying to discern and describe the nature of reality. You can come to some very, very wrong conclusions.

MOre on the stuff in bold pls.

  6. Dunno about US etc but tax on booze isn't the cause of expensive drinks in the UK, it's rent and other expenses (such as a brewery owns the premises).

I live in London zone 1 and my local free house pub is £2.50 for all pints and the off licences are £1 for 500ml euro lager.

If you go to a shop or pub near a train station or other reason for rent bikes and it is double that or worse
