  1. I feel a lot of tunes in this genre are all style and no substance, just focus on nice melodies already.

    Been digging this lately:

I've dabbled with this genre in the past, I might give it a shot on my next album.

Feel free to post some tunes in here!

  2. Ye, im gonna blow my own horn here and:

Not too bad! Do you have a soundcloud?

does this count as future garage? i made a song but i don't know what genre it'd be considered

Was unsure at first but it gets pretty good around the 2min mark, think I might use this one in a mix that cool? That vocal gradually becomes a bit grating after a while, dig the vibes tho!

  3. I actually enjoy most of what I hear coming out of Russia and the CIS Pfork had a good feature on some producers It's quite unpretentious but there is care and effort put in, just not overdone. It isn't slathered in irony or trendiness either like scenes in the US and Europe, nor does it lazily pander to existing dance styles like say, certain Jamaican and Brazilian electronic music. Hell, it almost fits into the stereotype of Russians reverse-engineering vehicles into their own solid but simple products. This is like the musical equivalent.

That was a decent read, cheers. Interesting to learn where Pixelord sources his sounds from :)

That reverse-engineering analogy of yours..bang on hehe

  4. Lol ^ for some reason that image triggered memories of Dennis Hopper's infamous "mommy" scene from Blue Velvet. Weird how recall works sometimes...Chill track anyhow haha

Why am I not surprised Volor Flex is Russian? Them ruskies really seem to relate to the icey Burial/f'garage sounds. The sounds here are a lot more varied than a typical B. release; has he just out-burialed burial at his own game (seriously)? I love it, exaze - cheers.

So much nicer than the original..

  5. NICE ^ how did i miss these?

Ya might enjoy this it's a mix from Pixelord of his unreleased stuff:

edit:sucks i can't embed it here. how come soundcloud works but not mixcloud?

  6. Yea like a bit of Floyd, Jethro Tull, King Crimson and so on...generally those bands aren't my cup-o-tea though. I guess 'cosmic' is a stupid way of putting it because there's a lot of wafting fluff to that effect; rather more into tracks that have a dreamy sense of space & time while still grounded on Earth and standing the test of time (like the Nazareth track above). That's highly subjected to my tastes though

Always appreciated the DIY-aesthetic of punk, can totally see how it would come about as a backlash against prog at the time
