  1. Yeah, someone needs to start a separate thread so we can all vote on an unofficial tagging system.

What is the artist name(s)? Album(s)? Artwork? Are we keeping or ditching the numbers? These questions need answers!

Well technically 35 Japan was released under his Polygon Window alias... But I for one have tagged this all as by Aphex Twin (along with everything else he's done) because I've had enough of hunting for the various aliases in my library, hehe... :)

  2. master sample spotters... help!!!

    This is driving me insane.

On the song 20 Pink floyd, from about 6 seconds to 51 seconds... I've heard that exact same drum break and double bass drum hit 100000000000000000033314 times before.

But for some reason I can't figure out what track.

Not sure if anyone else has replied to this yet, but on the offchance they haven't, it's from Run DMC's My House, as sampled by the Future Sound of London in a few of the Dead Cities tracks, if memory serves.

It's crazy listening to all these, as someone else who started out making silly little mashups with a cheap sampler before moving on to original creations that were a bit out there.

  3. I'm probably wrong, but this is my best guess at the tape split points, more or less. The times shown are the amount of time that passed between track uploads. Deleted tracks are excluded.

  4. oh I was talking about having three Stepper Acid modules :p

Oh that! I barely see them anymore. I'd be literally tripping up over them if they weren't stacked so neatly. You wouldn't believe how many we have here, but then, our home's also our warehouse. :)

The three in the case plus another one somewhere are the final prototypes, from before the first official batch. The faceplates aren't punched out, they're a bit pricier. I think two are Nina's and two are mine. They're pretty neat, yeah. :)

  5. You know, just wanted to take a second and appreciate how incredibly generous this is. After such an incredible drought of music (that we know of, at any rate), it's truly mindblowing that Rich has decided to open the floodgates and give us a peek inside the vault. It's even a bigger treat to hear the various versions/stages/developments of tracks - some of these kind of feel like sketches, some of them feel more like fully fleshed tunes. It's like getting a chance to look at the private journals of Keats or something. Absolutely fascinating - not to mention it's like offering a man who has been dying of thirst for a decade an entire lake to imbibe - my belly's gonna burst!

Three fucking cheers for the man. Fucking AWESOME.

This. I was excited enough when I bought Dubnobasswithmyheadman Super Deluxe, but this... this is a *lot* of tracks from the vaults! :D It's fantastic to hear in full, and in higher fidelity, all those tracks that leaked via a stolen DAT, Peel sessions recorded off the radio, Analogue Bubblebath 5's test pressing and a Melodies From Mars tape (assuming he releases any MFM tracks in these uploads), along with so many others of that era that didn't get released at all for whatever reason. I'd have gladly paid good money for any of these tapes. This way is good too! :)

  6. Did anyone manage to grab "17 Alis Track "before he took it down and re-upped/or retitled "17 Alis Track [brain floss mix]"?

was wondering if there was any difference between the two?

    They're the same:

    MD5 (17 Alis Trak-188178384.mp3) = 51b5e321d936a70dccd4596f41e27130

    MD5 (17 Alis Trak[brain floss mix]-188178384.mp3) = 51b5e321d936a70dccd4596f41e27130
  7. The tracks are clearly a part of some larger folder of tracks richard has. There is only one overlapping number (1)

If he posts enough tracks his own natural tracklisting that he created (independent of the order he uploaded them) will become apparent. It already is for half the tracks

    f6PN9.png

    What about 8?

  8.

Zoe, how do you know "Old tape" and track number stuff? I downloaded from chrome extension and from streampocket, but no such information reveals.

The tracks are coming in bursts so ZoeB probably just numbered each batch as a different "tape".

Correct, I was going by the timing of the bursts. The second burst is about 59 minutes long, supporting this theory. I could be wrong though, so I was wondering what others' opinions were on the matter.

  9. So does this look right so far?

  10. Someone please save these. Good god. Thanks rich.

I've nabbed all of causticwindow, richarddjames and user487363530 using a handy script. Did I miss anything? I also took the liberty of downloading one or both parts (I forget) of that interview a while back before it got pulled, but not the music. I should probably check if it's still up... But others here seem to have it all covered anyway, so yay!

  11. I got a QuadraVerb a short while ago, and can vouch for it being nice. The parameters are pretty straightforward, although obviously it's a bit fiddly going through them one at a time through an LCD and a handful of buttons. Depending on your personal mixing setup, it's up to you whether you think going out of the box is going to make life more or less difficult for you. It's arguable I should have gone for a simple plug-in as although I record out of the box, I mix in the box. I just like how hardware doesn't have DRM nonsense, and wanted that early to mid 90s Warp sound. Talking of which, flanging noise also brings that style to mind, and it's nice that it's a reverb, delay, chorus/flanger and EQ all in one.

Anyway, for a nice digital reverb, it's great, but so are a lot of plug-ins, and presumably other hardware too, so get whichever suits your workflow best. I'm keeping mine for the time being though, there's something strangely romantic about using hardware.
