what do you think of this new stuff coming out of west london this past couple years? at first i thought it was the worst shit ever but there some great producers now and i'm startig to pay attention to it. sort of sounds like speed garage meets grime and kuduro (especially in the snare patterns)

i guess it depends on whether you like cheesy soulful music. i love house and uk garage and r&b so i'm eating some of these tunes up. for example:

(also, how the fuck am i supposed to embed videos on watmm?)

ugh. the beats are mildly interesting, but it's like they were so scared of changing one piece of their ultra rigid formula, that they had to pile up the 1989 house music cliches on top and hope nobody got their buzz ruined by the change.

this kind of house isnt really art, it's more like a service provided for e users.

embed like so:

just discard all of the url except the video ID

or when you're posting in the full editor there's a list of insert codes on the left

god i hate vocals in my house tracks.

i hate them more when i've been told they're "soulful" and it's just a bored session singer reciting greeting card copy

haters gonna hate, man. there's lots of tacky shit involved in uk funky but it was the same with oldskool hardcore, and uk garage, and grime. you just have to find the good tunes and the good producers.

here's another really solid track. very oldskool sounding

(thanks adjective)

not strictly uk funky (i'm getting so bad with genres anymore, i only know what sounds good) but this is one of the best mixes i've heard this year, in fact blows most others of all other styles away that i've heard. i guess this style of music is native to south africa but is also quite popular and may have had some sort of genesis in lahndahn (more than likely)

Austin loves this dance "music" at the moment....

I do not...

usually...

if I am wasted enough, I do....

I love ya, Atop. But I hate that kind of condescension (putting music in parentheses) towards more dancey music, by IDMers. There's nothing wrong with wanting to dance and some of this stuff is dancey as fuck. I think we get too caught up (IDMers) in stroking our beards that we forget about the dance in IDM. Anyway that said here's some newer house-y stuff that I'm diggin:

Well I guess that is what the D stands for.

Don't ever stop being you, George. Promise me that.

I'll try my best, but I'm on new anti-depressants and I keep having dreams where I am Gene Hackman.

But otherwise I promise dude.

Oh yeah the young Gweneth Paltrow chick. I'm partial to the Genes from The Conversation and Bonnie and Clyde, myself.

I am ashamed to say I have never seen Bonnie and Clyde, this is a must I think, very soon.

Thats does look pretty awesome, I've also just realised that Natural Born Killers took it's storyline from this.
