My wild punts will probably be Arbor Supreme and Oscar Time. But I don't really have any idea of who might actually win it. Let me know who tips what and I might keep the list below updated.

Only 11 favorites have won round here in more than a century, and none has done so in six years. Five have won at 100-to-1, most recently Mon Mome in 2009. The only sure bet in this long-odds race is that fewer than half the runners will reach the finish: In 1928, only two of the 42 horses completed the race; only four of 40 finished as recently as 2001.

Winning over Aintree's four-and-a-half miles and 40 obstacles requires experience, stamina and guts. But mostly, it's about luck.

What A Friend is owned by Alex Ferguson, so I should imagine that United fans are completing fucking up the betting odds for it. I'd say that any horse that has won elsewhere is a likely candidate.

I'll have a crack probably, I'd go to a betting shop but I'm a bit scared and I don't know how they work

My sports and betting-obsessed colleague says Niche Market, Killyglen and Chief Dan George are the ones to watch. I won't be betting (cause I always lose) but I've entered the office sweepstakes and got The Midnight Club, who's the favourite. But favourites never win!

I've put a total of £20 on Midnight Club, Oscar Time, Arbor Supreme, Vic Venturi, Backstage and Killyglen.

I'll probably get nothing back.
