hardcode Posted September 10, 2011 Share Posted September 10, 2011 one thing i noticed about this track and a couple others of yours is that you can almost hear some audible clipping. not sure if you master your own tracks or not but it sounds like you might be over compressing something or simply have the levels too high. like at the start of "last summer" you can hear it in the bass. not sure if that was intended or not. I'm really inspired by those gritty mixes from the late 70s/early 80s, so I try to emulate it through the bass synth by over compressing and using a bit more saturation in that layer of the mix.
