Pseudo-romantic song

Nice. Personally I'd give it more variation, as in alternating between or completely switching to different sections, rather than just layering on more instruments and removing them again during one big section that spans the whole song. The pleasant pads and fast percussion play off each other quite well. It reminds me a bit of some drum'n'bass from way back, only without the headaches. :)

Yeah, song progression/variation is something I'd to invest more time in. I tried a simple approach here, and again keeping it short as I've been doing with most tracks I'm getting together right now. I might go back to reworking it but I can't dedicate more time to this one right now, as I'm pressed with work until the end of next week. Also, I really want to meet my own deadline to get an EP out by mid January, and still need to finish another song... But anyway, I know what you mean. Thanks for the input :)

not really sure what ZoeB is on about, the song goes for 2 minutes and stays interesting throughout so i think you're pretty sorted. i guess it's a matter of taste here. like 95% of stuff posted on EKT the only thing I can suggest is to make it sound less digital, get creative with subtle pitch modulation and distortion to add just a bit of character. again this is probably a taste thing and I don't want to start yet another analogue vs digital discussion but it's not about that, it's just about warmth and texture.

also shut up you fucking baby got me into standup comedy and it's still one of the funniest things i've heard. "let's give them more powers, let's roll the die! mhhhmhmhmhm"

oh and

"he knows what's beyond there. that shit's like pressboard, you can just break right through"

Thanks, I'm glad you like it! The digital sound is deliberate - I used a lot of SID sounds, formant wavetables and digital clipping, without going all-out chiptunes. I felt trashy digital would give this a crisp and cheap vibe that I wanted. Pitch modulation sounds like a good idea, I'll try that out if I get time to work on this again. The David Cross sketch was

- I think it's from shut up you fucking baby. His stand up and Aziz Ansari's were the soundtrack to my trip to New Orleans a couple of years ago - brilliant.

nice percussion. i like the digital sound, so no complaints there. the whole track is a little too busy for me, but thats just personal preference. overall, very nice!
